Но ни малейшей пошлости, никакого эротизма, ни одного непристойного телодвижения. Высочайшая эстетика тел, фантастическая, какая-то запредельная техника танца, да еще сопровождаемая атлетизмом. So true!! Igor Moiseyev was a genius!! His vision was to portray all popular dance forms and make them perfect. I have read that he created this ballet when he was in his late seventies, and he got his inspirations from going to night clubs and discos. He was curious how young people with no dancing skills at all would move to modern music that has no melodies, just a beat. The result must be the percussion dance- it’s stunning!!

I've loved the Moiseyev Ballet Company since I saw them live in Los Angeles about 1958 (I was 12). Never forgot them and now with youtube I'm fortunate enough to see so many of their performances. What I particularly like about the rehearsal videos is that you get to see the PEOPLE who are performing. With all the makeup, wigs and costumes you see only characters onstage. I love their "Night On Bald Mountain" ballet and here you get to see WHO is performing. Thank you for providing these.

Где-то в 80-х годах была на их концерте. Он состоял из двух частей. Первая часть была посвящена танго, а во второй части они показывали одноактный балет "Ночь на лысой горе", композитора Майбороды. Зрелище феерическое, особенно в той части, где веселится нечистая сила. На сцене почти нет света и они по ней скачут и танцуют в совершенно сумасшедшем темпе. У ведьм, длинные сиреневые волосы, разлитающие в разные стороны, а у ведьмаков в руках жезлы. Зрелище жутковатое и Завораживающее. Эмоции после концерта просто зашкаливали. Артистам долго аплодировали, не хотели отпускать. Уж сколько лет прошло, но не возможно забыть этот праздник красоты, гармонии, подаренный нам, замечательным ансамблем и его выдающимся руководителем.

I think this is not a Russian dance. This one is a modern dance (dance without any nationality) - just performed by Russian dancers

@@birdie2659 the part most people here are talking about has distinctly black American influence, since it takes a lot from the Jitterbug and related dance styles. Pretty cool for a ballet made in early 80's USSR
