This music is phenomenal but too sad to watch because the one who would normally be on the drums or bass will never been seen in his spot ever again! So so sad! But Joel will never be forgotten. I met him when was 22 years of age, first seen him person whip those drums when he was a teen. Rest well Joel, you will never be replaced!! We Miss You My Brother!!!

"Is There Any Way." Boy, I'm singing along and my eyes are giving my face a shower. The tears won't stop coming. The Lord is Faithful. Found out yesterday from my Dad (A Bass Player) that Joel Smith passed. He was one of the baddest Bassist out there with a heart for God.

A sorrowful occasion, yet it was absolutely gratifying to see the old gang back together. I know "Is There Any Way" almost verbatim...and even more thrilling- they were playing in my key! Even at practice, these guys are B A D!!

Kevin Bond, Jonathan Dubois, Andrew Gouche, it’s real right now. I grew up following the Hawkins, my father was a gospel announcer with all the records in gospel period, Joel Smith was the bassist and drummer, from way back, paved the way and laid the foundation for pocket,Drums and Bass, this is amazing. I don’t know who the drummer is or the other kybd or organist but they have to feel blessed.

Thank you for always inspiring me Mr Joel. You are and will always be the best and a master on bass. So one of a kind. There will never be any other that will play with such art, soul, heart and authority. I always gravitate towards your art because no one sounded like you. The best there ever was!!

This sounds so heavenly! The whole CCM sound has not necessarily been a good thing. This is true music!
@obeysuccess3 жыл бұрын
Old school musicians understands this. CCM has handicapped many musicians. We all can kill how great is our God, but Go back and try to play some of those Donald Lawrence, James Hall, Hawkins records, different ball game! 😲
@jasonsan95173 жыл бұрын
@@obeysuccess I totally agree!!!! 💯
@frederickweeksjr.11892 жыл бұрын
That's not necessarily true. It's all in HOW you present the music. If you're familiar (and I'm sure you are) with Shekinah Glory Ministry, they have quite a few songs that one would consider being CCM,yet it's just as anointed. Different perspective.

Yes that music was deeper. I am 42 and have played bass for over 20 years and now guitar for about 7. That music had changed in that you won’t just breeze in and play. You had to know the music etc
