2020-12-20 (Upload Date) 2024-08-01 Note: VJKK VJKF, Recently there have been a two vague comments over the span of a few weeks on the Rehras Sahib videos that claimed that the translations here are "wrong", so I just I wanted to take a moment to say that it is entirely and absolutely possible for the translations to be wrong and have inaccuracies here and there. Please, Bhull Chuk Maff Karni (Please please please forgive me for any mistakes and inaccuracies), but also please mention more specifically what you find to be incorrect so that it can possibly be corrected, and so that those changes can be reflected in future translations. Please highlight which Pangtis (lines/quotes) you feel can be translated better and maybe even share what you believe to be an accurate translation. It's hard to tell if a vague comment is actually genuine (and not coming from a troll), so specific details are very important to help determine that. Since this was an early translation on this channel, most of it wasn't thoroughly refined when directly translating based off of existing Kathas. I agree that some things can be worded or even interpreted differently altogether (although interpretation can be a very subjective area). Nonetheless, there are always ways in which the feeling and sentiment of the original Gurmukhi can be conveyed a lot better when translating. Good translations also need to be as close to the original meaning as possible without too much interpretation. Some things written out in English or any other language as a direct translation may certainly sound off and even outright wrong and don't do justice to the original. Often times the nuances of the original language are not properly captured in a translation, but with a bit more refinement this can be better achieved. So please feel free to share below what specifically can be amended, so that those details are noted here, and can be considered for future translations. Once again, Bhull Chuk Maff Karni Ji, VJKK VJKF.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh 🙏 All the puratan maryada is followed at Takht Sri Hazur Sahib and Takht Sri Patna Sahib. But why is the colour of Nishan Sahib saffron there? According to the Puratan Gurmaryada, the colour should be dark blue or basanti yellow as we see in the puratan paintings. Even according to the Rehat Maryada made by SGPC, the colour must be either basanti or surmaee. Why aren't they using original Nishan Sahib?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Singh Ji. 🙏 You are right, the colour and the symbology within the Nishan Sahibs have changed a lot over time. It would’ve been nice if the old design were still preserved somewhere in active use, particularly at one of the Takht Sahiban. The colours too have changed a lot. In the 1700s, it seems there were Nishan Sahibs that were red. One Puratan Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj at Hazur Sahib also has a painting of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and a red-green Nishan Sahib. (See here: www.sikhmuseum.com/nishan/empire/religious.html#religious5 ). Here are some other (mostly pre-1800) Nishan Sahibs that were generally red (www.sikhmuseum.com/nishan/khalsa/index.html#khalsaera9 ). While the colours have evolved and changed over time, the dark blue has remained quite consistent within the Khalsa Panth in some capacity (whether it was Nishan Sahibs or other clothes). The Nihang Singhs and some Sampardas have been the best examples of preserving that. Even some of the old photographs of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib show a dark coloured Nishan Sahib. I think Hazur Sahib became consistent with a single design at some point after the Hyderabad Deccan became a part of India in 1948, but I could be wrong. I also think that the Nishan Sahib, architectural improvements and renovations fall within the domain of the Gurdwara Management Board (which was established in the 1950s). The Maryada (as in the rites, rituals and discipline concerning what happens inside the buildings of the Gurdwara Sahibs) falls within the domain of the Punj Pyare. The Hazuri Khalsa and the Punj Pyare have been committed to retaining and preserving that same exact Maryada that has traditionally been passed down generation after generation. That being said, pieces of the overall Puratan Maryada exist throughout the Khalsa Panth, but all of it isn’t confined to any one place. Some cosmetic changes have happened and Puratan granths, paintings, rehatnamas and manuscripts can help us understand what has changed.

Why is fateh said during Sri Rehras sahib?
@TDTS3 жыл бұрын
In Puratan times, Kirtan and Singing of Bani tended to be more interactive in Sangat. And perhaps that was why Sikh children were more connected to Guru Ghar and Sikhi back then compared to now in some places. Interactive recitation was even noted by outsiders such as Sir Charles Wilkins, who visited Patna Sahib in 1781 and documented what he experienced there first-hand. According to the Puratan texts and Rehatnamas the Rehras is supposed to be sung. Because the Rehrasia family’s duty at Hazur Sahib was to maintain the Rehras tradition, they maintained it in its exact form and passed it down as is, including the specific parts where the Fateh is done. The Fateh at specific intervals appears to work as a good memory aid for children and those who just adopted Sikhi to learn the Rehras Sahib by memory. Notice how you hear the voices of Sikh children try to exclaim the Fateh as loud as they can and have managed to familiarize themselves of where and when the Fateh appears at quite an early age. And of course this is simply the Maryada as it has been passed down from generation after generation. Bhai Paramveer Singh Ji is the current Rehrasia Singh, who does the Rehras on most days of the week. His father Bhai Binod Singh Ji was also a Rehrasia Singh and their ancestor Bhai Mohan Singh Ji was the Hazuri Rehrasia Singh of Guru Gobind Singh Ji who accompanied Guru Sahib to Nanded. Since their family has guarded and passed down the original Rehras tradition at Hazur Sahib, this would’ve very likely been how the Rehras was done in the presence of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj himself. Hopefully this answers your question! :)
