Watched this to remember all the extra bells and whistles my tent comes with. This info is included on the second flap behind then instructions but its nice to see it in action. REI truly makes the best 3 season tent for the money, no doubt. Plenty of headroom when sleeping due to the steeper slope on the sides and doesnt feel claustrophobic with the ridgeline and all mesh enclosure. Got the plus size because it's perfect length to fit my gear and bags at the end of my feet. Also, t's not made in China! Vietnam, but NOT China haha!👍

The short piece of pole sleeve is actually for the short pole that connects the 2 arched poles. It it where the clip on top of the tent attaches.
@RockClimbinGrandma4 жыл бұрын
Hmm. I don't see what you're talking about. I took my idea of what it is from the REI description of parts. Hope I'm setting up my tent right!
@edover604 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's hard to describe plus you have a newer model than me. Mine is the orange and beige version. But the sleeve slips onto the center pole, then you attach the other two poles. So that sleeve is in the center of the top pole. Then the clip that's in the center of the tent top clips onto that sleeve. Really it wouldn't matter with or without it - the clip will still attach. I was just making an observation. 🙂

love the idea of having a "awning" what kind of poles would you need to do that?

great job. I couldn't figure out how/where to put the steaks and you are one of the only ones who showed a close up of the process of - do you put the poles through the metal grommets or through the strap? Thanks for showing that close up. Last year this tent kept my daughter and I warm down in the 20's...

This was very helpful, I was wondering what the fasteners on the fly were for and now it’s clear. Do you know what the extra pole piece included is for? It’s a loose cylinder that is larger than the poles
@bobbyheidkamp96354 жыл бұрын
Ah nevermind it’s just a repair tube. Thanks!
@RockClimbinGrandma4 жыл бұрын
That is a pole repair tube. If a pole becomes bent, you can slide it over and tape it in place. That will shore up the pole until it can be replaced. It's nice to have a stash of duck tape with you in the woods. Enjoy your tent!

I'm about to purchase this tent. Thanks so much for the video! :D Question. Does the mesh coming down so low bother you or not at all? Do you get cold from it?
@RockClimbinGrandma4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by! The mesh doesn't touch my head even when I sit up in the middle. There is plenty of space at the edges so it feels roomy. The rainfly does trap a certain amount of heat but it may only be a few degrees. I recommend checking night time temperatures and be sure that your sleeping bag and pad are rated correctly. If you haven't stayed out in cold yet then better to practice before you actually camp. Hypothermia is a thing. Excited for you! Enjoy!
