REI needs to sign you up as a public gear tester. All the videos are great. You got me into this tent and probably the buddy heater as well. Much appreciated brother, keep it up.

We got through an evening of gale force winds with this tent recently at Curt Gowdy SP in Wyoming. We had a site on a bluff overlooking Granite Reservoir. It is vital that you affix guy-lines with thoughtful consideration. I had to attach additional guy-lines in the midst of the storm due to changing wind direction. After that, the tent held up very well. So, basically, run guy-lines multiple directions during initial set up and you're good to go.

Good review! The Kingdome will stand up to winds over 30 mph, use the guy-lines and secure the pole straps under the fly to the poles. Mine has weathered severe thunderstorms, fully exposed on top of a gravel pit hill in the Carousel at Road America.

Ken M I just bought a kingdom 6. But I’m so deathly afraid that I’m making a big mistake because of how I hear this tent fails in the wind. I live one Los Angeles; we get the Santa Ana winds seasonally in the fall.

@@foxkenji I've had it up in 30 mph winds and it was quite steady. Use the tie outs and stake securely.

I have a very short video about the tent also. We hang out a whole lot in the garage section putting 4 chairs and a table. The kids like it a whole lot, and if you really like, one can bring a cot and sleep in the garage.

I bought this tent about about 5 or 6 years ago to use at an Old Time Music camp, Nimblefingers. I'm 6'2" and I can stand up in this tent. Easy to put up, and since I only really use it once a year, it's very intuitive in how to put it up. It comes with some nylon cord and extra stakes, that I assume is for higher winds, but never have used them. I am pretty sure this tent is discontinued now. Wonder if the replacement is as good, or better?

Great review... A lot of tents are hard to get back into its storage bag, was this the case with this tent or did you find you had enough room to easily pack it back in the bag?
@KrokemOutdoors
@KrokemOutdoors 6 жыл бұрын
Brian McLeer the bag for this tent is actually a bit bigger. I know exactly what you’re talking about regarding the tight fit on some tent stuff sacks. This one is big enough that we don’t need to really fold the tent tight, instead we’ll just loosely roll it up and stuff it in

We have the same tent and it fits in the bag so nicely. Also the rain fly fits so nicely back in the other side of the tent bag. The hard piece to put away in its original packaging is the footprint. I still haven't figured out the fold pattern for that, so we fold it as small as possible then slide it into the tent bag with the rest.

I know this is an old video but I stumbled across it while cross shopping an MSR Habitude and North Face Wawona. I'll be camping mainly in the Willamette and Deschutes National forest. Seems like the Wawona won't fit my needs but I'm curious if you think the kingdom would do decent in close to year round conditions. Camping with my son and girlfriend who like a lot of space. If you still have it and are thinking about selling it I'd be interested :D

Have had this tent and I returned it after one trip to WY. Wind bent the poles and it was very cold inside. Because of the big space inside there is lots of room for air circulation which is normally god but can be not so god when it is cold (i.e around freezing at night). Design is very god as well as quality but this is a tent for nice warm climate and mild winds. Garage add-on is a must. Do not buy this tent for camping in the mountains.

I have the kingdom 4 and found that the floor will leak if you are unlucky enough to have any serious amount of water fall and collect around the tent. Had this happen last summer up in Yellowstone and Tetons. I still like the tent but it is a flaw that you should be aware of. Perhaps the newer model has fixed this flaw?

Nice tent, I like all of the pockets it has in the tent, many 6 man tents only have 2... Makes no sense... I had many different Coleman tents over the years, I finally bought a nice family tent. Big Agnes, Big House 6... Check out my "Camping Setup" if you get a chance... Thanks for taking the time for the review...
