unless you cut out the tweaking, those diamonds aren't at full strength at around the 8 minute mark: They only go red on one half, which means they're asymmetrical, and one side bearing more of the load means it breaks faster; you can squeeze more strength out of them by tweaking the red side outwards or the pale side inwards, whichever works

@@ReidCaptain On top of that, you are doing your arches outwards or bulging away from the bridge. It is very heavy and unredundant. But if you did an arch that arched inwards/toward the bridge then it’d be a great balance of support, weight and cost.* *This design is not capable of all uses and may require large amounts of tweaking to become effective. Viaduct usage is not recommended. AND the outward arc design also does not help with anti-collapse rigidity (not a real term, just simplification). It further ‘coaxes’ the compression of the metal or wood, which they can bear, but *concrete, such as roads, have very bad tensile strength when stretched.* So always remember that arches are way better inwards than outwards for both structural integrity/tensile strength and also for efficiency.

Just wanted to give you a tip. If you arch the entire road at like 20° it is a milion times stronger than the straight road and makes the long bridge relatively easy

I think we need a comparison to the price using the foundation to not using the foundation. Foundation would be useful because while you were always under budget, you cut it close several times. If you could get it cheaper without the foundation then they would be mostly useless, with the use being to help beginner players.

Many people can't / don't have time to come up with solutions or just try to replicate the cheapest idea in the gallery, foundations are still useful for any casual player.

just so you know 45 degrees is the ideal launch angle for projectiles, not for things like cars which can gain speed as they drive up the ramp

Mmm good point, but it's a decent approximation since the acceleration at the end of the ramp is minimal

OP is right, 45° is the best angle for an object with constant speed, the cars, however, do lose a lot of speed going uphill, so the trade-off has to take the variable jump speed into account. Another thing that has to be taken into account is that the game simulates the energy transfer between the car and the bridge, so the bridge flexes and therefore the slope changes. Building ramps is a little more complex now, but in my opinion the levels are easier to compensate. Or at least they're intuitive.

Don't think Polly Bridges updates is what make some bridges not work, it seems like it's dependent on playback speed, some bridges are so borderline that one versus two x seems to mean the difference between the bridge breaking or not

Now that 45 degrees is only the optimal launch angle for the cases where the launch point and target are at the same elevation. In the case where the destination is lower, a shallower angle is desired.

Did you try to reinforce the first bridge with the 18k you spent on delaying the cars? I thought it was a weird decision to go for that solution without trying it first, maybe it was edited out.

You should definitely try making those simple trusses a lot smaller early on in the build. They add unnecesary load to the bridge which leads to having to overcompenste in your supports.

Foundations are extremely useful when you're just trying to beat the level and not do a crazy challenge. They're not ALWAYS necessary but they come in handy A LOT

In the video you mention that 45 degrees is the ideal launch angle, but that’s not actually the case. 45 degrees is the ideal launch angle when the projectile does not experience air resistance and lands at the same altitude, so for poly bridge it’s a decent guideline but only sometimes the ideal angle

You can use roads as supports on levels where you're only given steel, so it might still be possible.
