Can you mix and master tracks if you're paid? Or you just do tutorials only.
@schoo006 Жыл бұрын
@ReidStefanMusic I have implemented this technique but then directly to the grouped vocals (not some silenced ghostcopy/ return track), and it sounds to my untrained ear as if it indeed makes the vocals a tad more ‘intelligible’. I do however have a question to which I have not yet found the answer: Since soothe2 suppresses/attenuates ONLY harsh frequencies in whatever track it is ‘listening’ to… wouldn’t that mean that in this scenario (side-chained to vocals) it ONLY punches ‘holes’ into the instrument layer that you use it on, at the exact places where it detects HARSH frequencies in the VOCALS …thus opening up this instrument layer FOR them….making those exact (normally unwanted) frequencies punch through in the total mix MORE instead of LESS?😬🫣🤔

The problem with sidechaining plugins like this to carve out their space in the mix is that they frequencies they cut the most are the frequencies that need to be cut the least
@TjMoon912 жыл бұрын
Why do you say that? To me, cutting the frequencies which are most prominent in the sidechain material is exactly what you want.
@SocialGore2 жыл бұрын
@@TjMoon91 Cutting the loudest frequencies the most is not ideal. They are the frequencies less likely to interfere with other sources in the same range.
@TjMoon912 жыл бұрын
@@SocialGore I don’t know what you mean. If a vocal is cutting through at 1khz, and you also have a guitar prominent in that frequency, then obviously cutting that frequency in the guitar will help create space for the vocal to come through clearly, without having to be too loud. This is just doing that dynamically.
@yo_Av2 жыл бұрын
@@TjMoon91 i think i understand what he meant. For example : you need to make space for a dynamic voice, (to make it more intelligible), because of some synth with much less dynamic mask between 200/300htz. so you need the synth to duck in in this area, and mostly when the voice is quiet, not when it is loud enough to pass up and be heard. this kind of plugin will duck your synth more when the voice is loud, and less when the voice is quiet. Which is the complete opposite of what you need. But maybe this work wonder on busy modern mix when there is no macro dynamic of this type to the voice... ?
@TjMoon912 жыл бұрын
@@yo_Av That's fair enough I guess. Personally I'd be automating the amount of ducking between different sections, regardless of which plugin I'm actually using to create the sidechain ducking
