Startup Reinforce3D is commercializing a technique for strengthening 3D printed parts after the printing process. The company’s Continuous Fiber Injection Process (CFIP) feeds carbon fiber through channels in 3D printed (or conventionally manufactured) parts along with composites-grade resin that acts as both lubricant and and adhesive once cured. The process can strengthen polymer parts, reduce the weight of metal components, and be used to join together multiple pieces in an assembly.
