The individual recognised historically as Reinhard Heydrich was born in Halle a der Saale, Saxony-Anhalt, eastern Germany, on March 7, 1904. Heydrich was the complete name of Reinhard Tristan Eugen. His father, the renowned composer and opera singer Richard Bruno Heydrich, named his eldest son Reinhard after the protagonist of his inaugural production, Amen. Additionally, Tristan and Eugen, Reinhard's middle names, were derived from Richard Wagner's opera Tristan and Isolde, and Eugen Krantz, his maternal grandfather, was the director of the Dresden Royal Conservatory.
