I recently commented something kind of negative on this channel and it’s just cos I got a fog from a recent head injury. In all honesty I’m a renter in the USA and gardening has been out of reach for me for quite some time but I recently started collecting seeds out of one of my first apartments. Homelessness is very sad like I used to be, it’s like playing a video game and not being able to hit save, so you can keep on the following day. As soon as I do get planting I got Baker Creek on the top of my seed dealer list because of this wonderful kind spokesperson. It’s really lovely that you make these videos. I sent my mom a link to your Kajari melon seeds as she has a place to grow stuff in the mountains of Puerto Rico and I haven’t really done the research but it might be a real good place to grow them. I’m very interested in the heirloom variety tomatoes, and stuff for Zone 5 ag where I’m living although I may be headed back to Oregon. Thinking for Zone 5 planting has been awesome lately even though I haven’t quite gotten to do it much I’ve got big dreams of planting American Wisteria, trifoliate orange, and paw paws. I also think my town needs more birch trees started growing and I’m interested in propagating those. You all are the best I’m about to head to my local Veggie Van mobile food pantry who supply me with happy veggies for now. I’m gonna do my research on the melons now to see if they’ll really be a good idea for my mom. Happy sowing Spring season!

Dudes adorable! Is it also possible to post some video's on how to grow and harvest the seeds you sell? I've gotten into a few spots where I wasn't quite sure of what I was doing with some of the items I've never grown before, and the packet only gave me half the info.

I have a question about some seeds that came mixed into other varieties that I grew last year. What I thought I was planting were a costoluto genovese tomato and a walking stick kale. Both of these plants turned out to be some sort of nightshade with clusters of dull dark purple black berries. I reached out to Baker Creek's customer service through email, but I gave up after multiple unhelpful responses that seemed pretty... AI generated. I'm not upset about the plants because I know that they aren't a strain of deadly nightshade; the berries aren't staggered on the bush branches. I just want to know what they could be to make my husband feel better about harvesting them for jam and encouraging them to spread around our yard. 😂
@jeil56763 ай бұрын
Could they have been potato berries if not the deadly nightshade? I guess if so you should have noticed some small potatoes in the root zone though.
@abigailwurtz91063 ай бұрын
Yeah, they need better quality control.
@s.s.91493 ай бұрын
@@abigailwurtz9106 You know, I'm actually okay with it. I see it as an opportunity to try seeds that I may have wanted anyway. I ended up with a yellow brandywine in a packet of black brandywine, too. I really enjoyed that surprise. If they were bothersome plants or I had a severely limited area to grow, I'm sure I would agree with you, but I'm on 1/4 acre, and food is food to me. Plus, a more diverse variety means that my picky eater hubby is less likely to get bored.
@s.s.91493 ай бұрын
@@jeil5676 Nope, no potatoes. Our planted potato bushes failed last year, though. They grew and flowered but didn't produce a single potato. They never produced berries either.
@jeil56763 ай бұрын
@@s.s.9149 Well Idk what seeds you got but if you try potatoes again you can cut the flowers/berries off as they detract from potato growth, so they say.

How many are GMO frankenstein plants like the purple tomato?
@t.n.11163 ай бұрын
Lol! Plus I've heard they're sending cease and desists to people who are selling their old catalogs and seed packets online
@jeil56763 ай бұрын
The purple GMO tomato is the only GMO available to gardeners AFAIK and they removed it from catalogue, unless they reinstated it.
@acarter92773 ай бұрын
Baker Creek doesn't sell GMO crap. The reason they were selling the Purple Galaxy was because the lab they tested the seed at either lied to them or didn't do a thorough enough test. Do not start bad mouthing them because of the Frankentomato mess up. Blame the idiots who created it in the first place.
@MysticSpank3 ай бұрын
how many seed varieties do they have? How many of those were in any GMO controversy? DId Baker respond to the issue when found? Years of seed supplying, one issue that was corrected when found. Not bad.
