In July 2010 I gave a talk in Washington DC on Reinventing Organizations at TEDx Penn Quarter, and in that talk I introduced the idea of biological organisation. A sense of shared purpose, and purpose beyond profit, is of course pivotal in making deeper connections. The crucial thing though, I think, is enablement. The industrial metaphor is extremely entrenched and isn't concerned with enablement, its priority is on continual output. To realise the shift you describe Frederic, the idea of enablement needs greater appreciation. I co-founded TheSelf.agency recently to look at this.There is a nurturing that is being asked for to power future value, and many leaders are ill-equipped to engender this. And yes, to some extent, I think this is a gender issue.
