It makes sense in a grind-centric game as anyone with a big wallet has the option to avoid the grind and anyone who wants to play free-to-play style gets to enjoy the benefits of the premium currency. Everyone wins (assuming the company handles it right and doesn't make everything so much more grindy to encourage high prices for people with deep wallets at the expense of f2p players)

Yeah man, I stopped playing Destiny2 months ago. I really enjoyed Destiny2 till they implemented the armor mod rework and weapon crafting I never liked.. Got back on Warframe.. I'm hooked again! And we have new content coming in a few weeks! New activities and locations! So much content on Warframe.

Just returned to this game after like 2 years and can't experience 90% of the new stuff because my Deimos standing is too low to get 1 fish, so I can't get a necramech (and I literally only need 1 fish part). That blocks the New War, all later quests and even stuff like Arbitrations, which I had unlocked before taking a break, because I don't have all map nodes unlocked anymore. 10/10 experience. Aww I remember the update where they changed what parts you needed for Necramech. I managed to get it the day before the update, my friend who is usually ahead of me had to grind a lot more than I had to.

Finally got my best friend to play WF with me, so now I'm back grinding Tridolon, Profit-Taker, Zariman, Deimos...to get him some good arcanes and stuff. It feels...GOOD, liberating, farming without a care in the world. 🤣🤣 Then I tried Duviri and my day is ruined, my disappointment is immeasurable.

Duviri looks great artistically - but the combat is so far off the rail when you consider it alongside Warframe's standard. I mean, what did we sign up for? "Ninjas Play Free" - that's the catch. Hours in and I did not have fun with Drifter's sluggish combat at all. Clearly reaction-based, soullike combat was not DE's strong suite. And correct me if I'm wrong about this: Duviri was also offered as an option at the start for new players, right? Imagine their confusion... And host migration, my god. In normal Origin system gameplay it's bad enough, but in Duviri - you get one and your intrinsics go to smoke. I found others who experienced this posting on official Forum and Reddit seven, SEVEN months ago - and I experienced that horror yesterday!

@@MauMenzori It's too much stuff. 3 years is a lot of updates and much of it are built on top of eachother. Not only i had to get to grips with game mechanics again, but also changes in weapons, and weapon power, new mods, new guns, new frames. But worst of all was the million new game modes with all their own currency, and systems and ways to obtain said currency, going to the new npcs using those currencies to get new stuff, to then realise that you have to do other stuff to then get some more stuff. And all of it named and phrased so esoterically that it's hard to keep track of. The worst in this regard was the Ten-0, and farming incarnon weapons and ranks and such. Basically when i returned i had to get to grips with building a spaceship, a giant robot to do further questing, then farm new resources to mkae them and once i did i had to farm new resources in those missons, and then the Ten-0 happened, and all the voidplumes in a million varieties with new farming missions, for new mats to build the weapons, and then do stuff with those guns to make them work, also there's now Tenet and Kuva guns, so farm a different part to get those. And everything obscured by the names of stuff and a lot of wiki diving to even undestand the half of the new stuff while trying to remember the old stuff. It's just too much new stuff, and too many new ways to do stuff. If you stay in the game for the time this stuff comes out it's easy to keep track of probably. A single update doesn't bring that much new stuff in. But put together 3-3.5 years worth of stuff is insane. I have 2000 hours in the game, but i can't force myself to play anymore sadly. TL;DR: feature creep is a real problem for the game, when it comes to returning players.

Lets talk about it in topics: 1) Overall, you are most definately right when it comes to the sheer ammount of learning one has to do in order to "keep up" with this game on a regular basis. Yes, if we're playing it regularly (or even once every 4~5 months) it still feel harmless to bump into a new update introducing different game mechanics, because those shall affect 0,1% of your usual game style. Multiply that for 3~4 years, and you're basically facing an entire new game. I went through something kind of similar as well, where I found myself away for 2 years between 2016~18, and holly molly, it was already a punch in the gut to familiarize myself with all the changes... and mind you, back then, the game producer Digital Extremes hasn't even been bought by the chinese game-empire TenCent, so, money and regular updates were not thaaaat frequent. But since 2021, it really feels like they've pressed down on the gas pad and let this WF train run wild towards the horizon. A lot HAS changed real fast these past couple years. 2) My honest opinion to you is: do not delete the game yet. It is a free piece of entertainment, after all, there is no rush to log in and do your missions, or collect new weapons and learn about the world. It may be the 30 minutes of peace you need once or twice a week at night to ease your stress and relax before doing something else. Nowadays there are so many WF channels available on KZbin with awesome content creators (I could even point out a few useful ones if you wanted) updating on a regular basis. Yes WF Wiki does help, but you don't need to spend hours going through trial and error in order to find the best builds for your frame or weapons, as these guys can give them to you just like that that. 3) Mastery Rank is not everything. Do not worry about collecting each and every available gun to build your MR level, as you just need to be, what... 15 or something in order to access all weapons and/or planets/ or Steel Path and have fun wasting enemies. I am a 40 year old married guy with kids, and I'll play the game twice or thrice a week for 1 hour only, slowly farming resources to build new weapons (or their Prime relics) to pass time while expanding my arsenal collection. It is a hobby, not a job. Even though I joined back in early 2015, I still got less than 1.500 days played on my account. And that's ok. :) So, take it easy. This is not a race, but a learning experience. The fun part is exactly doing this investigation, learning about the new mechanics, the new game modes, what is happening nowadays. Log in when you can, but try not to abandon it completely. If you need someone to play alongside with, just let me know. I play on PC. Have fun, mate!

Volt is Better than Gauss, Volt can just jump over bumps and parkour through obstacles where Gauss is stopped cold. There's no open world zone/area where you can fully enjoy Gauss and/or Yareli. i too am annoyed that Warframe's lore tends to be hidden in weird side things. The necromechs should had just been things you can use your operator to pilot as an object that spawns on the map like they can be found now still and not another thing to use "rank up" and build with forma. There should be something that allows warframes to operate in those certain "warframe restricted" fields of the orphix missions and the grineer spears. i digress. Warframe is a satisfying and fun game, even if it's kinda the same thing over and over again and again. At least there's spy missions but i wish DE would fix the "stealth system" because if you do not posses any way to actually go into stealth the enemies know exactly where you are at all times even after killing everything that was alerted to where you is. Would be understandable if it was a case of you just stood there and obliviously they're going to find you but if your not in the "last known area" how do they find you? sorry for the tangent.

Whispers and 1999 are why I quit playing Warframe, lmao It's just that a Harry Potter dungeon and Time Weirdness is, like, ground-level storytelling at this point. The mysterious is that there's always a man behind the man behind the man? That's old hat. New threats, challenges, and status quo shifts that are informed by the actions we're undertaking when we play would've been more rewarding. Both Whispers and 1999 feel incredibly derivative and like they're abandoning the aesthetic/genre that cultivated for 10 years. It's weird and, for me, alienating. I am, however, super curious about how they're received, so I'm lookin' forward to see how you feel since you took a long break. Thanks, KZbin Creator!
