In this video, I talk about a book called ‘Notes From Underground’ by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and outline the arguments formulated against a totalitarian rationalistic utopia. We are not built for utopia, and nothing can ever be perfect, bar creation itself.
Watch this video to find out why.
Stay strong.

I don’t think a vision of utopia is all together a bad thing, but it’s important to assess the details. Is is realistic? Is it necessary? Is it fair? One things that’s so important in working towards a perfect world is realising how great so much it already is.

Yh exactly. I think the idea of a utopia is very flawed tho and a vision of a utopia is too. We must realise that it is impossible to live a life of pure comfortability, ease, and perfection. Even if we did get it, we’d resent it due to it stripping life of so many of its fundamental elements, such as chaos and unpredictability. Thanks for your comment mate. Brought me back to this interesting topic and video.👍🏻🤝🏼

@@PhilosophicalWarrior Sure. I would just emphasise that while this idea of utopia wherein nobody lifts a finger and everyone is in a kind of vegetal bliss, may well be flawed, that doesn’t mean we should altogether disregard any ideas of utopia. In some sense utopia, or at least a better world (that’s how I view it), is what gives humanity collective meaning. Making the world a better place. I mean even the sensible side of Christianity is striving to bring God’s kingdom of heaven to earth right? What’s that if it’s not utopia.

"Man is not rational by nature, but needs an overriding purpose...." That goes so deep and hits so hard, going further the more you think about it.
