Relapse era Eminem is my second favorite phase of his. Obviously SSLP/MMLP is his best era, but the relapse era is way better than his G-Unit/Encore era and most certainly better than his most recent era. Em could always rap, but the tone of his music is drastically different in just about every other album. Relapse had some of the dopest flows and production in his whole catalog.

In fact I'm thinking about doing an SSLP and MMLP Era compilations. One of the best qualities in Em's music career it's how his style changes after every album, even Revival/Kamikaze/MTBMB have some strong differences that defines them

On Fire was definitely for Relapse 2, but the interesting thing is how it became a full D12 song. The demo version of the beat was freestyled over on the Return of the Dozen Vol. 2 mixtape. Eminem and Mr. Porter weren't really involved with the mixtape, so Eminem doesn't have a verse on the freestyle. Because we have the song and the freestyle, a "full" (minus Mr. Porter) D12 song can be made from it. Interesting stuff.

You are right, On Fire was one of the few tracks on Recovery that were intended for Relapse 2, I used an edited version that combined the freestyle and the official Recovery release so it didn't really became a D12 song. On Fire was produced by Mr. Porter and he was involved with Return of the Dozen Vol. 2, producing some tracks and a couple of verses, just like on the other studio albums by D12, but Eminem just did 1 verse for that mixtape, it was released after Recovery so I'm assuming he gave an early beat to the group during the Relapse 2 sessions, where Hit Me With Your Best Shot and Fame were recorded, the mixtape released in 2011 but the recordings most likely during 2010/2011. The whole freestyle stuff it's quite interesting, you can combine a lot of stuff, I have done a few.
