I made the mistake of giving Big Dave the full amount of money raised from the gofundme campaign I set up for him. I did so after careful consideration and also trusting him to do right with that money. However it's now been confirmed that he relapsed. And also almost died doing so. It was when I had the feeling that he might have relapsed, I shut down the gofundme campaign. And have also began the process of issuing everyone who donated refunds. Yonnie also relapsed as well. Ironically these two did not relapse together. But I think the combination of these two both suffering from and dealing with their own addictions potentially fueled this. I hope you will not hate either of these two for what has happened, as I do not hate them. Disappointed... Absolutely. But addiction is a monster that some have a harder time fighting against. There is a video that I have not uploaded of the day we spent with Big Dave where I gave him the proceeds raised from the campaign. And he told me he would use that money to survive until he got a job. I'm not sure about uploading that... Regardless, this video is about complete transparency and the absolute truth. As I feel all of you deserve that. The thing about life after prison is in some case, maybe even a lot of cases, it's not always going to be pretty. And the stuggle to overcome ones past is often times as real as it gets.

Listen, joe. I was iffy at your intentions at first. Figured maybe you were doing this KZbin thing more as a money ploy than anything. I’m now convinced you are as real as it gets. I am very, very happy to hear you are refunding everyone. That’s a huge loss on your part. You could have never told anyone this and kept your money. I can honestly say now that i think you are doing everything you can to help people who were recently incarcerated. You have a huge heart and you will go very far. I’m significantly impressed by your actions. Actions speak louder than words, and you have been making great decisions. Seems to me you’ve turned your life around, complete 180. And as a felon and someone who is dealing with drug addiction myself, (did 2 years in California for non violent bank robbery- second degree) and used to use heroin, i could tell you you have all my support and i am happy to be on your team. I will now watch your videos, knowing your intentions are great. Huge props my brother. Much respect!!

I can relate to yonnie. Some people do struggle with addiction more than others. I’ve been in that exact place where I relapsed and let everyone down around me after being sober for a while. It does take a lot of strength to come forward and explain everything that happened...let alone on camera. I just want to say you can get through this. And you do have people who care that you can call when you get that urge. Like jo! So just stay strong man and use your resources. Delete those numbers and stay away from those people who are bad for you. Sometimes it’s as simple as that. I can’t stay in contact with other druggies because I know what that will do. Stay safe guys and you got this yonnie!

Yonnie, (and Joe) - here's an idea that might help with the fight against your addictions/compulsions..... What if y'all did a series about the daily fight against the urges. The series can show the journey, inch by inch. It can help keep your sobriety in the forefront of your mind, and it may even REPLACE the compulsive triggers that may lead to relapse. I see addiction as having deep paths etched into your brain, your thoughts/impulses are like water flowing through these paths.... but the addictive paths lead to the wrong types of actions.... a person has to carve a new path (create a new habit) to lead the "water-like" thoughts toward a different direction/action.... Water flows downhill through the easiest route; the addiction paths are deep and allows the water to flow freely.... You have to take a pickax and maybe a backhoe, and dig/carve a new path. The video series could be the new path.

As I say some of the best people I know are addicts. Do not let it define you....let the good define you....you are a talented person...fuck your age fuck the living at home shit....it does not define you...shit I live at home and am employed with a good job....we live in difficult times....I wanted to reach through the screen and tell you it was going to be ok....just hang in there....show us how to do it and that it can be done..... Yonnie The Greek You just showed a shitton of personel strength by opening up about this in such a public way. If you can do this video, you have what it takes to start again. A relapse doesn't have to be the end of someone's road to sobriety. I know. Joe's doing the right thing giving you another chance. Probably an important thing. Try your best to stay positive man.

Yonnie The Greek hey man, I just came off of having a little more than 4 years then going back out for 1. No matter what went down if this is full story or not, you have to realize one thing which I'm a perfect example of. You are day one again even though you only spent one day out there. I didn't want to face that and it ended up costing me relationships, my freedom, my independence, a high level management position and ALOT more. Just realize that you have contacts again and there's nothing physically stopping you but you have to do this anyway or everything will be gone. Best of luck man I hope most of what you said was true, I've just said it too many times myself..

Isn't the human mind a crazy thing? A person can rationally, intellectually observe their vices and talk about them in a clear and logical manner. But that same brain can easily convince its rational side that its okay to embrace the vice/addiction. Compulsion and impulse short-circuit and override responsibility and prudence. It truly is like having two separate beings inside one's self.

This is as true of a conversation with an addict you will get... No matter how well you can be doing, knowing what is at stake, what you could lose, the people you will let down.... You still use... Its hard for some addicts, even with clean time to say no once they have it in their head that they are going to use.... And the thing is, the one using absolutely hates themselves for it.. Joe... You are a good dude, and you are working so hard to better yourself, and your show every day. Not trying to tell you anything you don't know already but.... you are too good of a dude right now.. I know it feels good to do right, and make people proud after doing the wrong thing for so long.. With the guys you have workin on the show with you that have addiction issues, and are a part of your life should be on your mind set.. Make them do the things for themselves, that you do for yourself. That's different for every body.. But these guys should be going to meetings, and willing to take random urine tests for you.. When they are on your channel, and their faces, as well as stories are a common occurrence, they represent You.. They represent all of the hard work, and integrity that you have worked your ass off to achieve.. I hope he gets his mind right, and that you guys can work through this,

Relapse is just another step in recovery. You can't blame anyone for trying and failing but you can give them the helping hand they need to fix there wrongs and get better. But idk about Dave's case the way Yanni said that the first thing he did was get alcohol I feel like he was lying about his intentions the whole time I'm not sure that you should even associate yourself with someone like that you have built this channel and show all by yourself and I've been watching literally since day one and really I think this should open your eyes to the fact that you can't help everyone because sometimes by doing so it might end up backfiring and bringing you down on the process. Just my 2 cents....

This video right here validates your purpose, Joe. Yes this is unfortunate for Yonnie but, this brings your channel and your purpose to the front of the line. This should shut down all the people whoever doubted you. This video and the way you handled the Big Dave GoFundMe funds, sets you apart from any other show in your genre. You could have turned your back on Yonnie but, you gave Yonnie a chance to face his demons to thousands of people. That WILL help. It will help him and some people that are dealing with the same demons. Can't say it enough. Joe, you are an inspiration and #APSFOREVERAPS !!

Beno I also think that Big Dave’s situation probably triggered Yonni. Being in therapy has taught me to let my family and true friends know when something is triggering my PTSD or anxiety. Yonni needs people to support him, but at the same time he needs to be able to say to them “I am on the ledge.” Being in crisis sucks. Especially when you don’t know how to verbalize what you are feeling and you are not sure who you can talk to because you don’t want to disappoint them.
@bonphone42226 жыл бұрын
The backbone of support should not be other people who have had or are going through major challenges. It should be from people who are very stable. A lot of people think Joe is an expert on handling himself- I give him credit for what he has done but even with a couple years of sobriety you are at a 40% chance of relapse. I think the people telling Joe to distance himself are extremely caring and hoping the best for him. Why would he deal with 2 people's problems when he has plenty of his own? IE driving with no license and should have gone back to prison. He could easily stretch himself too thin thinking of others and end up making a small mistake with big repercussions.
@Mommaatoz6 жыл бұрын
Bon Phone I think with Yonni the situation is different, just like little Dave. But I agree that Yonni need professional help. And even friends need to be educated on how to recognize the signs of him getting close to the edge and how to handle it.

I've been watching your videos for maybe a year now (I never bother to comment though), but this video broke my heart. Specifically, for Joe. You can see the devastation written all over him. First, it was "Little" Dave not being completely honest, then it was "Big" Dave, and now it's Yonnie. Not to mention the homeless people he's tried to help who also had fishy stories. As someone with a BA in Psych degree, I don't believe that Yonnie is telling the truth, I don't believe that it's a coincidence. Some of his mannerisms (ie: hand gestures, posture, and eye contact) remind me of what we would call a manipulative sociopath.

You need a PhD to adequately diagnose someone along with lengthy rigorous interviews and written/verbal personality tests, but I'm saying from what I've seen of him in several videos and this video that's a little over an hour long, I've noticed certain characteristics and mannerisms that do match up with those of a manipulative sociopath (the reason why I say manipulative is because the disorder is somewhat broad)

There are no such things as coincidences in this life. A large sum of money was given out. And that just so happens to be the time he relapsed. Its not hard to figure this one out joe. I know yani is your friend but try not to be blinded by that. Yani is a great talker. hes well spoken, and this probably isnt the first time hes talked him self out of a situation like this. I dont know all the facts but this one is clear cut.

To any normal person this story would sound absolutely absurd but to some of us this makes perfect sense
