The simplicity of this band amazes me. Yet I still somehow like it.

@spinypigweed actually he looks like a punk rocker since he is influenced by punk rock and he doesn't use distortion on his vocals that is his real voice and they fit his genre fine since it is blackened thrash with punk influences

Toxic is a full band now. I talked to Joel after the GWAR show in Houston. The other members were his tour musicians for a while but it's now official. Then again, it makes no difference since he's the frontman and everyone goes to him for autographs and shit lol.

the reason they sound so simple is they have strong punk influences mixed with black and thrash metal but mostly punk u can hear it from there riffs and the drumming that's straight hardcore punk riffing and punk is simple it just mostly chords played very fast but sounds cool and keeps a fast paced rhythm that u can mosh to just look at joel he looks like a punk

yes, he does. he writes all of it... but doesn't record the drums. he can play the drums, just can't do some of the double bass and complicated stuff. joel IS toxic holocaust.

Damn, don't hate them. but, people who say "don't bother listening to thrash." some people don't like them, but love anthrax or old metallica. what you should say is "don't bother commenting if you hate them, they are great thrash" or something along those lines.

@MetalAttack1986 No dude, Venom created black metal in '82 with the album BLACK METAL. Well they created the first of black metal at least.

@spinypigweed he does look like a punk but he is influenced by metal to as u can tell by there genre and punks did have hair like that
@DeathMetal6907
@DeathMetal6907 13 жыл бұрын
@spinypigweed um no u have it wrong thrash was a rebellion against glam metal not over complicated or dynamic stuff look at sadus and coroner there technical or watchtower plus toxic holocaust is blackened thrash with punk influences u can definitely hear the punk in them he uses black metal style vocals

@DeathMetal6907 I am a PUNK rocker so i know what they look like, also I am a musician, sorry, there is distortion on the vox of the first two albums, it's either that or the masters were over compressed. yes I can tell he is influenced by punk, more the crossover thrash/punk era of the eighties, but he doesn't look like a PUNK, I think he has a cross section of influences, not just punk.

@spinypigweed Yea technical musicianship is all well and great but what I discovered over years of playing clubs.....The drunken kids don't really care about that, they want BARR CHORDS and swear words. I began to tone down the band I am in a bit and we discovered a stronger reaction from the crowds GO FIGURE, So I believe that T H is onto something there. Now I did not think that five years ago, I was proven wrong.

a question. how much does a thrash metal musician make?
@spinypigweed
@spinypigweed 13 жыл бұрын
@DeathMetal6907 Well yea, depending on the region they were from, and what particular SUB genre they were into. Actually I never disrespected TOXIC HOLOCAUST, I actually like the STRIPPED down style of the music. It's kind of the same mentality the RAMONES had, TRIM the FAT OUT! Stick to the POWER CHORDS more bands should do that (and I include my own band in that)

@DeathMetal6907 Actually the dude from TOXIC HOLOCAUST looks like an eighties GLAM POSER from NEW YORK, but YES VERY MUCH HARDCORE INFLUENCE, with a slight early DEATH METAL vocal styling, but should get rid of the distortion on the vocals, I think it is unneccessary in his genre, just my opinion, HEY at least someone is out there trying to remember a time before NU METAL
@spinypigweed
@spinypigweed 13 жыл бұрын
@DeathMetal6907 and YES ALL THRASH, from the EARLY punk influened stuff from 1980, all the way through the PROGRESSIVE THRASH, and then evolving into DEATH MEATL and GROOVE METAL (however I will not count NU METAL as it is CRAP in my book) ...all of these were MORTAL enemies with GLAM in the eighties and then with GRUNGE in the nineties.....thankfully, more aggressive music WON, METAL was saved, however PUNk fell into POSER shit, went from SEX PISTOLS, to POISON IDEA...then to BLINK 182? WTF

@spinypigweed All thrash is punk influenced punk made up thrash along with nwobhm and thrash was only a rebellion against glam and hair metal bands since they hated that type of music and seeing dudes dress like women and if any one really created thrash it would be anvil they where playing thrash before metallica ever was and venom are speed metal if any band who created black metal it would be bathory

Old school THRASH was SUPPOSED to be simple....a rebelion against the overproduced, over complicated stuff....to the hardcore thrashers, the over complicated, all dyynamic stuff was (and still is) considered to be FAKE POSER SHIT!!!!!, This guy captures it pretty well for a younger guy, but his vocals need work!!!!
