It’s so fantastic to hear men talk to each other about therapy - couples therapy even - so openly and positively. Thank you for helping people understand effective and healthy communication!

Non violence communication is so so important in all relationships. Marshall Rosenberg is the one that created the theory behind it and I would highly recommend watching any of his seminars that you can find on KZbin. He is such a passionate, intense and charismatic speaker.

This interview is INCREDIBLE on so many levels. While it's in the context of relationship and couples therapy, whereas I am a divorced man who coaches and mentors other divorced men, the same principles apply. Kevin is so right about persisting in finding the right therapist. Tim is so right about not needing the help to come from a "Jedi Master" which is exactly the terminology that my therapist and I use to describe my progress ("You're not yet a Jedi") which comforts me in knowing that I need not be a Jedi to do what I do effectively. (It's not about me but just relating what they said to my life and aspirations). Tim Ferris' interviews and interviewees are bar-none the absolute best out there, and I will be recommending this clip to many. By the way, I also did imago therapy with my then-wife just prior to divorce but unfortunately by then it was too late. However, I do believe it can be enormously effective if pursued early enough in relationships. Thanks for another fantastic interview Tim. I know how busy you are but wish you would see this comment to see how much you're making a difference in people's lives. Though I'm sure you know that already :)

I think these shorter clips are better for you for this platform, Tim, unless you wanna do an unedited stream of your podcast or something--which seems to be a hit with other channels. I'm finally watching after being a subscriber for a while now. If you're up to it, you can even do the video version of 5 Bullet Fridays here. Glad your team is moving in this direction.

"The story that I'm telling myself" is from Brené Brown, I think. Don't remember which book, but honestly they are all worth reading.

Wow, so good - my summary of notes - Sometimes we can be scorekeepers ... Remind yourself that you are both on the same team. Keep the communication channels open - real time feedback is good, vs dropping a bomb of 17 complaints. :) “The story i am making up in my head” - when I believe that thought, I feel X Making someone defensive is NOT effective Dont keep things bottled up for weeks, and then explode. You can ask on a weekly basis - is there something on your mind about the relationship ? We all have triggers in our mind, that can take over when certain conditions come over, You can identify the cast of characters - that takes over your mind, name them, define them, their fears, their hopes. “Oh, he/she didnt do this, so now the insecure person is coming over. Let’s have a rational conversation with the person”
