You two should get the blinds that can be moved with a remote like in the movie the holiday. That way you can shut them closed at night and click a button (or even set a timer) to have them open in the morning. :)

The curtain conversation - I think it depends on where I am to how I like the curtains. On holiday I close the curtains, but at home, our bedroom has the back door entrance to our garden, and we have trees the whole length of the garden and that looks on to open fields - so In the spring and summer I leave he curtains back because it’s so pretty .
