Have watched Senator Thune speak many times over the years. It is refreshing and invigorating to hear a professional politician speak on issues; a congress member who puts the puzzle pieces on the table and has taken the time to see how the issues connect to government, private, and legal institutions. It is a fact of the political coliseum that language and acts become emotional; however, when seats are assigned, national direction is achieved through the demonstration of professionalism. Politicians who do not study and sink into emotional banality are a security threat, obviously; better the professionals, who like college deans, know the halls well--from the budget for the cheerleading squad to the budget of the research department. From John Thune to Jennifer Granholm, I am ready to cheer for those who use their reading glasses.
