Hello Simon, I just wanted to say that I took the day off work today and I have other things to do that I normally cannot do during the work week and I never leave comments like this on any KZbin video's. However despite all of that the Energy and optimism you and your guests displayed was so awesome I had to leave one. You inspire me to be better today than I was yesterday. Thank you for this wonderful podcast and I hope you keep doing them. Life long listener first time commenter. Thank You

I love watching (or listening to) really good friends get into deep rapport. There is an alignment on a subconscious level of speech tones, intonations, cadence, even the way you drag some words out, and the timing of exhales. And of course the full belly laughs. You can feel the connection ❤️

I love that equitable take over equal! Most people possess a "give and take" mentality of both contributing equally yet equitably brings another dimension in a relationship. Cheers to appreciation for everything especially now and realizing how less means more. Minimalist living actually helps one enjoy more of life!! Thank you for this podcast.

I loved every part of this conversation, thank you. All of our friendships are a work in progress and have seasons. I sent a similar message to a few friends about 2 years ago and none of them even had the decency to reply. I too felt similar to you. It felt like a weight off 'breaking up' with friends that were not as invested in the friendships as I was, also one was toxic. So many just walk away and don't have contact, in my situation they are friends with my partner even now, so I knew I had to address it. Thank you for this amazing, refreshing and beautiful conversation.

I can understand if that person is busy and has a lot to do but it feels like excuses. I think it’s sad that this world runs off of narcissism.

I’m glad you set boundaries I may have to do the same at work I’m so disappointed in how selfish and immature everyone has been it makes me so mad then I have to try and hold it together they just want me to fail like them. It’s embarrassing to go to multiple lead chefs and be like “so and so is lazy and doesn’t want to help me.” I’m a dishwasher yet the two leads can’t help me it took me everything to not go off on her. So now they hold resentment toward me for going to the other lead but I’m just done we all need to work together instead of getting emotions involved. The good thing is that my boss and others know I’m a hard worker I have always usually been like Simon says their are wonderful bakers which is nice and I appreciate them so much but some people need to go

Sometimes the answer is in beeing fully present in the moment: with a person or situation at hand and just allow it to be, to feel the energy and positive vibe make it's way and stopping the mind questioning and visualising any wishful outcome but just enjoying and beeing there...and is not easy :anytime we perceive that something "rationally "have a potential ,we end up in trying to trap it into our "mind prison of expectation "🙈☺.... and absolutely the main thing I feel , especially in the communication between Christina and Will ,seems to be the willingness to listen and understand with commitment and respect without any ego intermission but only from openness and pure receptivity. Really nice vibe and uplifting talk 🙏☺

Thank you for a bright and beautiful conversation about relationship with friends. It’s so rare when the value of friends is discussed, even though we know we can’t be who we are with out them. I plan on sending this to everyone of my friends whose friendship matters to me so we can talk together about our value to each other. This will be the catalyst for that conversation.

I really needed this, it’s too easy to justify enabling others to to take advantage of you. But I still think it’s important to recognize that gain and loss aren’t always easy to discern or the deciding factor. I have poured my heart out to people I know wouldn’t do the same and I too am the initiator for hanging out with all of my friends. But when I felt so empty and frankly bitter that no one gave back, I chose to keep trying. Now many of my friends give back and reciprocity won out. I guess the lesson hear is to be honest to yourself, about what your giving and what your getting back, it’s fine to giv your whole cup, as long as you don’t expect yours filled in return.

This is really insightful, all of it! I love listening and hearing all three perspectives from Simon talking about friends that ended up "unfriending", Christina talking about energy, and Will talking about the glass of water analogy. I like the description about equity as well. Reflecting on what we've learned in 2020: say yes to less. And, of course, pursuing what is good in our lives to keep it good and make it better. This is a conversation I would have loved to be a part of!

Great content Simon as always. Terrifically inspiring conversation and great to get to know Christina and Will. Just one suggestion: if you want to create more space for people to get to know your guests, you may want to consider letting them talk more and freely so they warm up and go deeper in the limited time you have them. Great stuff. Thanks for your optimism and work man!

( 13:45 ) I am thoroughly benefitting from this interview but do we really need to have our friends know that we are assessing them as such? Im only asking. Wouldn't empathy, in part, be to let them be and wish them the best even though they do not satisfy our personal needs. To me empathy means this. Hoping for the best for another, minus the ultimatum. The ultimatum means we want our own needs met also, but this does not demonstrate true compassion or understanding or love even. Sometimes, in all types of relationships we have to step back yes but i think throwing in the ultimatum is a human trait we need to lose. My stating this may seem completely stupid but love - which is the basis for all our relationships - "does not look for its own interests." Empathy, compassion and all the associated traits you speak of are all rooted in (agape) love. Which is why true love is so hard to come by and can never be perfectly attained. Though enough have come close. Anyway, what I was saying is that I personally think throwing the ball in the court of friends for some....oh this is too much writing. I have to stop. Im enjoying the interview.

Regarding unfriending people who aren't at the same... "stage of life" as you. Obviously we all want to associate ourselves with someone that will push us to better ourselves either directly or indirectly. If we were to compare that to a stair or marathon, isn't it better to find people who are ahead of us (therefore not the same stage)? Someone that has already walked the path. If we did that, wouldn't that mean we're the one that should be unfriended by them? Is our goal to only accept people that are on the same "stage" as us?
