Experiment suggestion: Wrap yourself in .25" tubing and run cold water through it, then test for how cool it makes you feel ..then put on the warmest clothes you can get and see if it still keeps you cool. It would be interesting to see who will be the first to prove or disprove how astronauts kept cool at 250 Fahrenheight. At minimum you could test how cold you can get water as it circulates through a tube passing through water that was frozen in a vacuum.

The cooling process of a sunspot can be understood by examining the process that is also found in the Ranque-Hilsch Vortex. Plasma flux tube vortices are cooler in the center due to the same heat transfer system in compressed air vortices.

@@ianw5439 sorry but that doesn't explain the wilson depression. They are a vortex as observed by plasma flowing into them. If you are claiming that convection current is raising plasma from depth then you must have the capacity to allow plasma to sink. Have you ever pulled the sink plug out? Its the same process, MHD applies to both water and plasma for a reason.

@@ianw5439 have you ever seen a tidal Whirlpool? Rapidly rising currents create the vortices when the surface water descends past the rising water. Combine that with the magnetic flux vortices of the sun spot and maybe you will understand why the plasma descends at that point and theta pinches the "field lines" due to rotating charged plasma, similar to every electrical coil on the planet. If you don't know what flux vortices are I suggest you search flux pinning. Even Wikipedia has the answer so it shouldn't be to difficult. Another term you can search for is the Abrikosov vortex. Hope this helps you observe at a deeper level.

@@ianw5439 No it is you who is confused. Search this paper... It is from NASA "Sunspots and the physics of magnetic flux tubes. I - The general nature of the sunspot. II - Aerodynamic drag" Last paragraph of the abstract. "A downdraft of about two km/sec through the flux tubes beneath the sunspot is hypothesized." Your welcome to ignore the Theta pinch generated by rotating current all you want. Unfortunately I know how electricity works, unless you claim plasma isn't charged and when rotated produces a Theta pinch? You would also have to assume the only person with a mechanism for the waxing and waning solar cycle is wrong about that as well. Do you know the Earth and Sun have quadrupoles? Do you know Saturn has a sextupole? I hope you know how those magnetic structures form like I do?

Education You know we receive an education in the schools from books. All those books that people became educated from twenty-five years ago, are wrong now, and those that are good now, will be wrong again twenty-five years from now. So if they are wrong then, they are also wrong now, and the one who is educated from the wrong books is not educated, he is misled. All books that are written are wrong, the one who is not educated cannot write a book and the one who is educated, is really not educated but he is misled and the one who is misled cannot write a book which is correct. The misleading began when our distant ancestors began to teach their descendants. You know they knew nothing but they passed their knowledge of nothing to the coming generations and it went so innocently that nobody noticed it. That is why we are not educated. Now I will tell you what education is according to my reasoning. An educated person is one whose senses are refined. We are born as brutes, we remain and die as the same if we do not become polished. But all senses do not take polish. Some are to coarse to take it. The main base of education is one's "self-respect". Any one lacking self-respect cannot be educated. The main bases of self-respect is the willingness to learn, to do only the things that are good and right, to believe only in the things that can be proved, to possess appreciation and self control. Now, if you lack willingness to learn, you will remain as a brute and if you do things that are not good and right, you will be a low person, and if you believe in things that cannot be proved, any feeble minded person can lead you, and if you lack appreciation, it takes away the incentive for good doing and if you lack self control you will never know the limit. So all those lacking these characteristics in their makeup are not educated. Ed Leedskalnin, 1936.

Another Love Letter to Ian W. Dearest Ian, this isn’t actually for you, but anyone who happens to view the Comments section so they will know who the real religious zealot is. A zealot is someone excessively, fanatically committed to a particular point of view. This is often exhibited by excessively repeating the same refrain over and over again. For example, you insult Dr. Robitaille by repeating ad nauseam that he knows no physics, he’s a clown, a hack, and a religious zealot. Or you often insult others by calling them woo boy (still haven’t figured that one out). Zealots also often lie. For example, claiming that Dr. Robitaille is not the father of ultra-high MRI. You might ask just about any ultra-high MRI scientist if that is the case as he trained many, perhaps most of them. You also may want to consult the scientific literature on this as it is clear who the father of ultra-high MRI is. You call Dr. Robitaille a religious zealot, a priest rather than a scientist. Yet he has never made a single mention of any religious view point in any of his videos. Max Planck was profoundly Lutheran. His grandfather was one of the single most important Lutheran theologians. According to your logic Planck should be ignored. A zealot is also someone who can never see the other side of the argument. Even when the facts stand in front of them. Why would you see the other side? You have never read a single paper of Dr. Robitaille’s. You don’t even watch the videos. Yet you think by quoting astrophysics papers that you don’t even read or understand you have made an effective argument. The only religious zealot on this channel are the trolls who never offer a credible rebuttal. Some don’t even try. At least you do try, Ian. But your debating skills are laughable. They are embarrassing. If you are the best defender of astrophysics, no wonder it is a joke.

Who then refuses to distance himself from creationism/ ID when given the opportunity to do so." You are the zealot, repeating the same nonsense like a broken record, thinking that somehow wins the day. Dr. Robitaille does not have to distance himself from your false accusations because they are false accusations. You hateful, lying, broken, little man. Get a life, Ian. Or a wife, or girlfriend, or friend.

@@midlander4 "he's a lying creationist bs artist. Why are you white knighting for this sad grifting boomer? It's not a good look." I ask you the same thing. You are white knighting for astrology. I'll say one thing. You know how to use tired insults. When has Dr. R. ever said anything religious?

@@ianw5439 " NYT. When asked to deny connections to creationism/ ID (same thing) he refused. Any real scientist being asked such a question would be horrified, and deny it. Robitaille hasn't. And still won't. He's a creationist, or some other kind of religious fundy. And is crap at physics." Even if the lying NYT asked him anything to do with creationism Dr. R. is not under any responsibility to address it. It's a typical "when did you stop beating your wife" hit-piece question. Dr. R. does not have to defend false accusations. You continue to spread false accusations. You need to be sued. Your world is falling apart. A weak man grabbing at straws to keep from being drowned. You are weak. Your science understanding is weak. You are a zealot and ideologue in the truest sense. Astrophysics is a joke. You do not represent science.
