King K. Rool is a weirdly perfect character for me. Like, he's got everything I've ever wanted in a character for Smash Bros. He's got two ranged attacks, he's heavy, and most importantly, he's a bad guy. Even more perfect, my brother's main character has always been Donkey Kong, so playing Smash Bros with him feels complete. Like, this was something that was missing before and should have been there all along, but its finally here.

This is literally the most well thought out and most detailed take on my favorite Rare Character. King K. Rool was the villain that should’ve been in the series since Brawl. But it’s weird that I had to wait this long for him. Oh well, we have him in Smash, he’s back, and here’s hoping he’s in the next Donkey Kong Country game. ReZaHydra I’ve had two second most wanted characters. One was K. Rool and the other was Banjo. I’ve wanted both these and my number one most wanted since the Melee days as well. I feel like most people who say that Duck Hunt replaced him have never actually played any of his games (and I don’t mean playing the RPGs, Nuts and Bolts, or watching lets plays). He would be A LOT different than Duck Hunt. Recently (I know this sounds crazy) I’ve had a feeling that I think you and me and all of the Banjo supporters have been feeling. I think it’s time. There’s been a hint or two from Rare, but I’m not really talking about that even. It just feels like it’s finally time. I don’t really care if it’s through a Microsoft event or a Nintendo event, I just care that both of our dreams might come true this time. Here’s hoping for Banjo to come home!

@GeJoe-no Banjo fans are either A) still hating on Rare blindly not realizing that makes everything worse, B) in the same boat as you an me, thinking his time is soon for Smash, or C) saying the character’s dead and that we should move on. For once in a long time though, we’re the Majority Vote. It’s been dwindling from people who left and people who gave up, just like King K. Rool. If there’s one thing that the King proves, it’s that no matter how underused or under-referenced, a character only dies when the creators have forgotten who that character is. Nintendo knew. Miyamoto worked closely on DK and Diddy in the original DKC with Rare, and Bowser inspired K. Rool. Nintendo, why now impossible to return the bear and bird home fully, and redundant to buy Rare back, has the capability to revive him. Rare and Nintendo never forgot K. Rool. They never forgot Banjo-Kazooie either.

If it wasn't for his appearance in Ultimate I don't think I would ever have know K. Rool had a stubby little tail.

He had a much longer tail in DKC and DK64. But his tail was seemingly removed altogether from King of Swing onwards. Glad Smash Bros gave it back to him, even if it is stubby.

King k rool is one of the coolest characters and it's fine you dissagree but I grew up with the DKC and Dk64 as well as crash Bandicoot games. His design is a strong powerful crocodile. And each game shows him going more and more insane. Though after years of nothing he had time to recoup and regain some sanity. And he is back to smash

I think the reason K Rool was so fondly remembered was cause he was almost completely different in both design and fight every game while still being the same character, giving him an obvious varied moveset, and then the resurgence of the show made known this amazing personality to go with that obvious gameplay material. It just had every reason to work.

As a K. Rool player i know first hand K. Rool isn't OP K. Rool struggles immensely with the many speedy, spammy fighters that flood Elite Smash and Online in general Anything with a sword is his worst enemy (Which is a lot since we have like 16 swordsmen), Ness, Jigglypuff and Pichu's near constant aerial attacks hit his Florida sized hit-box and leave him practically incapable of moving at all. Heavy hitters like Bowser and Ganondorf can easily break his stomach armor if you try to guard too much and overall all of his best tricks leave him wide open for lots of punishment and lastly notable tilt jugglers like Mario, Kirby and Fox are just the worst because his super heavyweight means he can barely escape that onslaught until he reaches about 40-60% Pretty much struggling with anything faster more acrobatic and exploiting his numerous weaknesses but i will never stop being a K. Rool main
