Just come back from a two week stay in Funchal. It's amazing how by the sea it's hot and sunny, with palm trees and banana planation's, 30 minutes drive into the mountains it's cold with forests and just like northern Europe.

Lovely photography - congratulations. Interesting that many of the comments praised the natural world aspects, even though most of the time you were filming human structures - lighthouse, roads, towns. Only in the Metade valley did you show unspoilt nature. I know your channel is focused on relaxation, but my experience is that people who seek this risk developing complacency. So they will think all is well here. Because they don't know of the parts of Madeira that you didn't show....I'm thinking of the invasive species such as Acacia, Eucalyptus, Prickly pear which have already overwhelmed the south of the island and are now marching into the Laurisilva of the north. Of the burnt skeletons of century old heath trees and chestnuts killed in the mountains of the centre by careless or deliberate fire-setting by farmers in the tinder-dry conditions at the end of the Summer. Fires which encourage euclayptus more while wiping out native plants. I'm thinking of the mountains of plastic bags and rubbish thrown into the watercourses by Madeirans too poor or uneducated to know better. And of the traditional stone paths disappearing through neglect or under concrete, and the levadas lost to walkers as their waters disappear into plastic pipes or tunnels. It seems to me that you could be a powerful advocate for change in land and heritage management with the great pictures your drone can show....IF instead of editing to make people believe everything is fine and dandy, you used it to show how things really are, and to show that the jewel that was Madeira is close to being lost. It might not be so relaxing, but it would be more useful in the long run.

Beautiful, yes, like everyone says with the aerial views, but also somewhat inhospitable. The jagged mountains make much of the land inhabitable it seems. The sheer cliff dropping to the ocean's edge, is dramatic but not approachable. Where is the soft sandy beach? Even the town on edge of the ocean had a harbour for boats but no natural and inviting area for people, just a road running along the coast. I saw one little artificial beach created. Maybe, there's another side we didn't see?
