It's cute , but my dermatologist who is an African American female, told me NOT to perm my hair ever again for it's not good for that condition. Ladies if you have this condition STOP perming your hair . There are many natural hair styles that you can wear . No disrespect to the hair stylist.

I'm glad u said"sharing is caring" because a lot of us, like myself can't afford to get my hair done everything two weeks, like I would want to. I believe the way black people can really do better is, by sharing n caring, something we don't do much of, like other culture does n are making like better for them. Blacks r the biggest consumers, so why not help each other's, sometimes!!!

Fatima Manneh huh? Africans are some if the most tribal people in the world, and Black Americans are some of the most accepting. Do you live in America? If so, you have Black Americans to thank because we fought for you to be here, and what do we get in return? Black Americans have traditionally ALWAYS stuck together and fought...together. @Simply Dray Hi Dray, yes it appears that "some" hair stylists are only concerned on the outcome of the style they've given their clients but do a huge disservice to them by continuing the process that may have cause the issue. I don't know, it just seems odd a professional would do that.
@lesley4745

Yes , my dermatologist is black and I have the same condition. She told me to NOT put perms in my hair anymore because it will cause more hair loss . She told me to find a style I like and stick with it. Not to put alot of stress on the hair , and not to use much heat as well so , I've been natural .

Yes some forms are caused by a relaxer that’s not properly done. It is not the relaxer itself that causes the alopecia is. From the looks of the client she was natural. So without knowing too much you can pretty much eliminate that the clients alopecia is was not caused by a relaxer.

I'm no longer watching these disrespectful and unprofessional stylists. People should be able to provide respectful constructive criticism without being disrespected by the stylist. If you're unable to handle adverse feedback, get off public platforms and hide. Every style you do is not fire. There's always a better stylist but a positive brand image, awesome customer service and humility will keep you in the game long-term.

Your videos are so informative and I really appreciate that. The client you worked on in this video has alopecia similar to mine, however, I have alopecia completely around the circumference of my head and my sides closest to the ear are a little bare and in the front mine looks like your client where there is hair lose. I could not wear the style you are showing. I can't wear my hair off my face. Anytime I would get a perm in the past, my scalp would start itching again really bad and I lose more hair. My hair does better when I wear it natural and keep it moisturized daily. I can't use my natural hair at this point because I am missing hair in the very front so I wear wigs. Another reason I wear my hair natural is because I work out and sweat alot. These personal swimmers are a trip. So, do you have any ideas? I hope you can help, I don't live anywhere close to you.
@marleyhill34
@marleyhill34 4 жыл бұрын
If I was in your situation first I would see a dermatologist and/or a trichologist to see if the area is scarred permanently or if the follicles can be stimulated to grow hair again. Depending on the length of your natural hair, you can slick it down the sides and back with gel, edge control and hair spray. However, I would limit that slicked down style to once or twice a month as it is very drying and damaging to the hair and then you have to wash it out. My trichologist would say stop wearing wigs. The pressure and tension from the wig will damage your follicles further. Two other styles are to wrap your hair in a silk scarf completely or wrap your edges in a silk headband type style. If your hair isn't that long you need to see a stylist/barber who can give you either all your hair off in a number 0,1or 2 or a tapered cut from shaved sides and back to a long textured top.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I have seen a dermatologist, I have even had shots in my scalp, but they seem not to work. A dermatologist told me that my hair might night grow back in that area and if it did it would be Grey. That is exactly what's happening but it is not strong. I do wear a satin band around the perimeter before I put on a wig when I wear one. You see I am retired so at the most, I am wearing a wig 3 times a week. I am fairly diligent about the upkeep of my hair. I moisturizer it every other day and my hair just flourishes but just not in the front around the perimeter. I will try to find a hairstylist locally who specializes in alopecia. Right now I don't know of anyone and I am in Ohio. Once again I truly thank you for your time and I wish so much that I was in your city. ❤😊
@marleyhill34
@marleyhill34 4 жыл бұрын
@@gidaniels8386 three times a week might still be too much as I was wearing my wigs twice a week and my trichologist could tell. It is worth saving some money up to make a trip to see a trichologist. I'm not retired but my hair is starting to turn grey. I'm not dyeing it because I prefer healthy hair over dyed hair. Once I reduced my wig wearing to once or twice a month I and the trichologist say the difference in my thin area. I've never had full blown alopecia just a bit of thinning and irritation. My trichologists do not give injects they remove things that are not helping the follicles and apply topical products, infrared lights, electrostimulation and steam to acyivate the follicles if they are slow and sluggish. If the follicles are dead and scarred, there is nothing that can be done. Save up and see if you can find a specialist in alopecia. Either a clinic or a salon.

The relaxer works better when you apply the chemical correctly on virgin hair. 1st apply on Mid chef of the hair all over each sections then you go back through each sections and apply to roots knowing the roots take quicker and mid area takes longer. Then go back through sections and pull through ends of hair

You do not give those✂ scissors a break. You cut off the clients growth. Do you want anyone to have long hair? Every time a client gets a press or a chemical doesn't mean their ends are split. Especially not in a month or two. Maybe a few exceptions unkempt in that little time or hair is growing super fast & splitting like a tree.
