My ex wife played the cello, she used to practice in the spare bedroom..I used to turn off the TV and listen to her...it was so beautiful. She never knew I was listening to her all the time. The room is empty now......sometimes I still hear her playing though, and it brings me back to happier times.

I have a two year old daughter who we believe may be on the spectrum. Getting her to sit still long enough to fall asleep is ALWAYS a challenge. I turned this on so I could relax while nursing her baby brother to sleep before putting her to bed. She curled up next to me and fell right to sleep listening to your beautiful melodies. Thank you so so much. This is amazing.

This is the kind of squabbling that would get us in trouble with my dad (5 children in a Ford Country Squire station wagon) when he was driving our family somewhere when we were all young. TBH, as the mother of only one child myself decades later, I realized how much the fussing of just one child could be distracting to a driver and cause the driver to get in an accident. I dread to think of driving with five. How did my dad handle not getting distracted by the five of us? It must have taken extreme fortitude on my dad's part. Maybe my son is right and I have undiagnosed Attention Deficit. I don't think I do, but both my son and husband say they think I have it. (I am NOT hyperactive at all and have never been. Just easily distracted.) But on to the squabble and my two cents: She says her daughter is two and she says "we" meaning her, the father, and perhaps the pediatrician too. To have trouble falling asleep at two years old IS unusual. I recently read a summary of a neuroscience research paper that said the number of connections that develop in the brain of a child on the spectrum is much higher than in neurotypical children. Perhaps people on the spectrum are just overwhelmed by too much activity going on in their brain. Too much input, too many thoughts, at once. I think that would be overwhelming, especially for a child. It is unusual for a two year old to have trouble settling down to sleep/nap. They usually are good at that by two years old. It is atypical. But may not be related to being on the spectrum or not. One last comment: the terrible twos which are very REAL occur between the second and third birthdays. They last about 6 months. This girl might just be having terrible twos. I thinking being on the spectrum is usually noticed and diagnosed by the child's first birthday. I also think it is caused by atypical DNA. Based on a man on the spectrum who donated sperm to a sperm bank and they have discovered over 40 children born using his sperm and a higher percentage than normal are on the spectrum. (Another neuro science paper summary I read about.)

I don’t know why, but listening to these cello selections makes me think of my brother, the one who taught me how to tie my shoes (a little differently from the way everyone else said to do it, but I finally learned!). That same brother taught me why I couldn’t just jump and jump and reach all the way up to the moon. I miss him every day, and I think about all his gentle wisdom that he gave his curious and uncoordinated little sister. I've been struggling studying for a really important exam coming next month and I was pretty frustrated because we were lucky to be given a free week by the university (like no online classes, no homework, reports, etc) to help students cope and recover from rising COVID cases in our country. But I wasn't able to focus much yesterday and only studied like 48 minutes total (with many long breaks in between) compared to the 3-4 hour session I did the day before that. And I was anxious about today because I wasn't feeling very motivated, but I sat myself down after lunch, put this playlist on and started reading my book and I kid you not, I managed to study 47 minutes straight! I got interrupted by a roommate who needed some help, but listening to this actually made me want to keep going and just keep reading, and I'm so happy about it! I know that I prefer listening to music without words while studying because I get so absorbed in the lyrics of songs (which I discovered was the reason why I loved going to cafes to study was because of the jazz music haha!) and I'm also a classical musician so playlists like this always make my day. It was also so funny how I was vibing with my favorite pieces but didn't get distracted because there were no words but did end up imagining myself playing the cello on occasion (would love to learn it one day! But gonna work on playing the violin for now). Anyway, that was a long comment, but I just got so excited and happy, had to type my thoughts out. Back to studying!

Hi I listen to this almost every night. But the thing is, there's two pieces that you have here to listen to in the very beginning that I am practicing for a very good while. No. 1. Saint Seems No. 2 Beethoven Bagatelle. No. 25. On a 4/4 cello, these two certain pieces completely, absorbs me. The cello is such a romantic instrument I fell in love,, with it many years ago when I was playing a guitar. I never. thought I could do it. So, let me tell : ( Once you start ) DO NOT JUST GIVE UP ON IT ! -- IT MOST DEFINITELY IS WAY HARDER THAN A GUITAR !!! -- DO WHAT I DID ; Learn just a small part of a piece then play it, over &over memories it, then learn a little further, then go further back to almost the beginning, then put it all together THAT IS HOW I TAUGHT MY SELF !!!!!!!!!!

My "grandson functioning high-level on the spectrum" is typical of a previous comment. Classical music, especially four part strings, is a source of soothing. He slows and becomes contemplative. Not perfect but discernible.
