You might have something more that’s causing dandruff like psoriasis or something. Maybe try getting some medicated shampoo from a doctor? I use to have an itchy red scalp but I switched shampoos to a dandruff shampoo and for awhile a medicine shampoo.

I've had flakes on my head for 24 years, since 1999. I remove them everyday, and they always come back. So, based on my personal experience, the answer to your question is "no".

My scalp is ridiculous. Crust, flakes, scabs, buildup, the works. Sometimes it’s so bad that I can pretty much pick my entire scalp off in big chunks, and it’ll be super raw/tender and sting like hell afterward.
