I doubt they're more than 10,000 people in the United States who have your profession, and can speak English. It's a vanished way of life in this country. Oil companies and billionaires own the ranch lands, and either farm it for tax write-offs (with underpaid foreign labor), or keep it for a private game reserve (visiting 100 millionaires, excepted). Today we only have rodeo cowboys and clowns, some in office.

I rode in -21 below the winter of '78/'79 to gather Pee Wee lambs. I was frost bit and couldn't walk. The Ranch Manager helped me off my horse into the bunk house. It is true, you can drink a half bottle of Segrams 7 without missing a beat to thaw out. The fire ball erupted in my stomach, the heat rushed to my frozen feat and before I knew it, it was daybreak the next morning. Powder River, Wyoming.
