Those Hinata and Naruto flashbacks before she entered the battlefield to save him made the scene 10x more impactful imo, one of the only times where flashbacks have an effect on the scene. That scene of Naruto explaining everything to the 4th Hokage and how he said "I got stronger but it couldn't stop the Akatsuki from killing my friends" is so chilling. Imagine having someone like god damn Pain coming after you, must be scary as hell.

Oh yeah, The legendary Cycle of hatred speech from Pain. THERE ARE NO SPOILERS HERE, Just some discussion about The speech. Pain's ideologies are feasible, they are reasonable things to do. Pain isnt contradicting himself when he starts referring to himself as "an ordinary Man" (he's dropping his pretense of beeing a "God" to truly have a heart-to-heart conversation with naruto as fellow disciples because he truly wants Naruto to understand his motives and see things from his perspectives). Actually nagato means That Pain is a god, while him a Man. We as the audience generally or all of Us side with Naruto and the hidden leaf because they're the "main characters" of the story. But Pain is "GIVING VOICE" to others here in the world that also suffer. I totally agree when Pain says "Humans are not the most intelligent creatures", due to the fact that we're essently a virus on the planet because we literatelly destroy other species and the environment of our planet, so That's right, biologically speaking Pain is more than 100% correct. On the other hand, From our perspective (human perspective) Pain is mad because he wants to Destroy nations and people? ( but That's The same thing the Leaf has done and Big countries do today in our real world as well, How Can You possibly deny That? Why is it ONLY Fair And OK for the hidden Leaf to have peace and justice when everybody else in The world also suffer Pain?? Lmao Pain is calling out the hipocrisy Naruto and The Leaf are trying to justify themselves (That part When pain talked to Tsunade, he said "Your peace has Only brought violence upon us all" That's what he means, That they (The Leaf) are hypocrites, which is true indeed. He wants a world where M.A.D will keep the peace for a while and when it breaks, when people use tail beasts, they"ll experience pain again, and That pain will force them to Go back to the period of peace. This will continue over and over, that pain will keep humanities violent Nature in check, allowing peace to exist. You can definitely disagree with Pain's ideias of achieving peace because they're Pretty extreme from our perspective, however with his speech You Just can't, because he's spitting Facts. Pain's character is a masterpiece completely, he's a character Very grounded in realism. An Epic Villain. For me he's One of The Best Creations in all fiction honestly, this Arc here is The Most Epic from kishimoto. Everything about Pain's character is so well done. He's so sick dude. He gave The Best Arc to The Entire series, this masterpiece right here.

The pain arc is what transformed Kishimoto's work into a timeless masterpiece not only of manga but all of literature. This is an existentialism, politics and even ethics magnum opus of literature. How?: By actively pretending Naruto Shippuden ended at episode 175, same for the manga storywise, and ignore all the fillers. By doing so I believe the work attains an ending it should have had. Anything after that I believe completely destroys what Naruto is to me and I believe SHOULD be, a masterpiece philosophical allegory and reduced and relegated it to nothing more but some worthless shonen children's story/manga/japanese comic.

If you notice Naruto’s strategy when there were only 3 left and he took out the one that can resurrect others, had the Tendo path not gotten his attraction/repulsion powers back right at that moment, Naruto would’ve solo’d all 6 paths at that moment in like 10 minutes. That’s how clever he was, to consider how efficient and quickly he came up with a strategy to take down all 6 as he came across them (with intel of course). It’s just they didn’t calculate Tendo getting his power back in that moment, because how could he have known?

Hey J, I tried to give these Dub hypers the benefit of the doubt, never again. At this point it is a straight up meme or some kind of troll, because I gave it an honest try and yea it's really bad. It hurts my brain to think that these comments are real. 99% of the time it's coming from folks that started Naruto on the dub, and that's unfortunate, but hey that's how some people started so I can't fault them. The intensity, the exaggerations, and inflections of voice, the pacing is just so much better in the subs, it hardly even matters that the subtitles are or aren't perfect, the key is to get the original Japanese voice acting to pair with the animation to bring the experience to life. I do understand that sometimes dubs try really hard to convey what the subs are conveying, but it just doesn't hit the same at all, and I feel like I have to trick myself into thinking it's okay. If I have to delude myself like, then it's a sign it's not that good. I'm glad you gave the sub/dub contrast at the end, but I have a feeling you were being quite generous in your assessment, maybe even swayed a little bit buy the ridiculous amount of hype around some guy named Troy which voice pain. When I read that many comments it usually carries some weight, but this time it seems to have been because the lie spread like wildfire before the truth could catch up. Lastly, I've really enjoyed a rewatch of Naruto with you guys, seeing you get to enjoy it at the same time as a total newbie enjoying it has been a fun contrast. A lot of comments keep mentioning chopped up clips/sound going in and out, but have these people never heard of copyright striking before lol, youtube has been super aggressive over the years. Given that context I haven't minded the choppiness or missing bits at all, just enjoy the rewatch as I watched this many years ago already and like the refresher.

Its somewhat similar to the situation we have but mostly just when it comes to the nuke part. Because in this scenario its not everyone is in a standoff with guns its one guys has a gun and everyone else has their hands up. The part I hate the most about this is it really is a false peace because no one actually experiences the pain and overcomes it. They just stay in a state of being threatened with pain they're never felt or grew from. Its just pure stagnation in every way. Naruto's Dub has just always been weird to me. I started it in sub before the anime came to the West so I thought it may have just been my bias but the dub been out for about 18 yrs now and I feel the same way! Outside of the classic Toonami and Adult swim dubs like Dragonball, Yuyu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, Tenchi and Cowboy Bebop I prefer Sub and I dont think thats gonna change lol.
