Hey there. So, it will be fine but what might happen is that your KZbin video will be flagged by Content ID once your song is released by Amuse. Do you currently monetise your KZbin videos? If not, it won’t be an issue. And even if you do, the revenue will just be sent to your Amuse account instead. 👍

Hey there. It does distribute to KZbin if you select this, however it doesn’t release to your specific artist channel. Here’s an example of how it releases to KZbin from my recent release. Looks like you need to have “at least 3 official music videos released by a music distributor”. I’m assuming the releases by Amuse and DistoKid don’t count for this, but not sure how an independent artist can release an “official” video.

Hey there Jessica. So your distributor will send to all the different platforms and those platforms (Spotify, Apple Music etc) will create the accounts for you. Spotify is all managed by you as the artist so distributors won’t upload there. KZbin is a little different. The distributor doesn’t get access to your personal YT channel but it will update to a separate “topic” channel. You can convert your topic channel to an “artist” channel once you have some releases. Just search for information about this online.

Amuse would be a good option for you. The royalties you will get from streaming are very low but if someone’s going to get them, it might as well be you. And the service is free, albeit a little slow, so there’s not really any significant downside - it just makes it easier for people to find and listen to your tunes.

Hey there. Unfortunately not. The options you would have here are to either not release to KZbin (therefore not enabling Content ID at all), or when other channels receive a claim they can dispute it, though it can still be hard to manage the “allowance” at this stage. If you want anyone else to be able to use your music I strongly suggest not releasing using KZbin Content ID.

You can release under a name you have already used to release, however depending on how unique the name is, it may not match up with your previous releases. As I’m he only “Pete Johns” in the Spotify and Apple Music catalog for example, it should be fine, but an artist called “Nemesis” had some issues recently because their song was attached to another artist’s profile.

The distributor handles the uploads and the stores will create a new profile if you don’t already have one. This is why it is super important to have a unique artist name so your songs aren’t added to another artist.

Amuse sucks, they keep not approving my release, i been using Freshtunes before the main problem with freshtunes is they dont have Content ID for youtube, so i tried Amuse, the release date takes more than 3 weeks on Amuse while on freshtunes a few days from 3 to 7 days, and i moved my songs from Freshtunes to amuse they say its simply and easy i keep following their steps but they always say what i did is wrong my main problem is the ISRC codes and i asked to give me new ones so i got new ones to upload but it isnt working, it's annoying as hell and the customer suppport service is slow, with no human reply, it's seems that they have an automated reply system that's not effective, also the interface is lame, i'm moving to Distro Kid and hoping to save myself more headaches with this terrible service, well that's what you get when you try something for free i guess.

Hey there. Yeah, it's a balancing act for sure. I tend to give all my music away for free rather than making folks stream or buy it specifically. I think that way you get your music in front of more people and if they like it, they are more likely to buy/stream it so that can show their support. The key (in my opinion) is to put out OTHER content about how you create music, more about you, content that might help others do what you're doing. If people see you as a real person, not just someone that wants to make money selling music, they are more likely to engage with you.

Make sure you are checking the app for the status of your release and your spam folder on your email. I can only comment on my experience. What release day did you set and has this passed? I’ve definitely got the “happy release day” emails with both of my releases.

Yep. If you release with “KZbin Content ID” as a destination then it will flag the video and put in a copyright claim but this doesn’t do much - just sends any advertising revenue (if you’re channel is monetised) back to the streaming platform.

You need to flag it as a cover song if it is a cover. If you release a song that is already released by someone else and you don’t own the rights, it would be blocked from release or taken down once identified.

Hey there my friend. So most of the stores report royalties monthly and there is usually a 2-3 month lag between when a son is streamed and when royalties are paid in t your account through your distributor. The amount you have been paid so far may have only been for the first few days/weeks of your song being available. Each month past the 3 month point, you should start seeing royalties from more recent streams coming in. For example, royalties from June streams would be available now from most stores, but July/August/September will not be.

Hey there. Music removed is only usually done when copyrighted samples and loops are used, or someone else’s music is used without permission. If you created and therefore own all the music, follow the album artwork guidelines and enter all the details correctly, you will be fine.

Hey there. I’ve been meaning to make a video about this for a while as it’s a little complicated. It breaks down like this. If you upload your own music as videos directly to KZbin, and you have qualified for the KZbin partner program (the 1,000/4,000 you mentioned) then you can monetize your videos by inning ads before or after our songs, and then will be paid by Google. If you release music using DistroKid or Amuse, and select KZbin as a platform, these are uploaded by the distributor on a separate artist content channel, which you don’t have control over and can’t monetize. If you select Content ID (costs with DK, free with Amuse) then this will help you collect revenue if your music is used in other videos, but this revenue will be channeled back through your distributor, not KZbin. Like I said, it gets complex pretty quickly, but hopefully this helps?

I have a video on KZbin in which I used music generated by Magic Garageband, for which Apple specifically grants rights to use both personally and commercially. I have received 5 KZbin copyright claims from various scam artists claiming that they own the copyright. I have successfully defended these claims every time -- in fact, after the 3rd time I saved my rebuttal (including a link to the page on Apple's website granting unlimited rights to the music) in a file in case I needed it again, and in fact I needed so far two times more. In my defense responses I have continually asked KZbin why they keep allowing these scam artists to make these claims after I have clearly shown that the music is legal, but apparently KZbin either doesn't keep or check past records or just doesn't care and puts the burden of proof on me. In each case, after I provided my proof, the scam claimant has withdrawn their claim.

Hey Paul. I have heard of these sort of issues. The problem with the KZbin Content ID system is that it operates on a “first release” system. That is, if someone has released a track that use a certain combination of loops and automatic instruments already, then you release a track with a part that has this same combination, it will flag as being “owned” by the original person. This is a significant issue with a lot of loop and sample bawd music without a real easy answer, as the content ID system is just a machine matching up sounds. Will be interesting to see how this plays out with more and more folks creating music using GarageBand especially.

Yep, you nailed it on your second comment. You can continue using the service and uploading your music for free and getting 100% of the royalties. If they offer you a deal you hey will help you promote your music and then will take a cut, but you can decline this.
