Sir please I have some question and the say we should Discuss relevant and irrelevant cost with at least five examples and illustrations each . And my question is we should give one illustration on relevant cost and another illustration on irrelevant cost

Thank you so much for this opportunity. I am not clear on the machine cost. I was hoping the relevant cost would be 4000*$3 = 12,000 and the opportunity cost 2000*2 = 4000 and that’s a total of $16,000 . Please I need clarification on this sir.

Me too, I actually am asking myself why he used 600hrs as it was supposed to be a limite of 4000 hrs since the additional 2000 hrs is being generated by another machine

I thought same initially but there are two different cost. There are scenarios. First is the cost of machine overhead (electricity) which is $3 per hour. Hence, the cost for total electricity bill for 6000 machine hour for the project = 6000*$3 which is $18,000. Secondly, as a result of the limited hours (4,000hrs), we would need additional 2,000hrs to make up for 6,000. This 2,000hrs will be taken off from another job (opportunity cost) which give $2 per contribution. Hence, we would loose 2000*$2 = $4,000 for taking the job. Hence, total relevant cost becomes $18,000 + $4,000 = $22,000. I hope it helps🥲. Cheers.

There’s no need to replace because there is unlikely use for the material in future, so the replacement cost is irrelevant.
