I've been watching your videos for about a week now. And I decided to pull out my old metal detector and go down to a friends ranch to see what could be found on his property. He pulled out his detector, as well. We were behind an old abandoned gas station that is on his property that was built around the 1920-1930s. After a few minutes, he gets a hit and starts to dig. First thing out of the ground was an old motor cycle seat. Then we get another hit and it was the handle bars to a cycle. To make a long story short, we are still digging after a few hours and have about half a motor cycle with the fenders, rims, and a partial fork. We are not sure what type of cycle it is, but it's either an old Harley or an Indian based on our very limited knowledge. We go back tomorrow to finish digging it out of the ground. So far we are about 3'd down in the hard East Texas soil in a 5'x7 ' piece of ground. We also found old auto parts, oil bottles, some old spoons and a bunch of other stuff like nuts and bolts. Everything badly rusted. The hole must have been the dump and covered up. Maybe we will locate the engine and gas tank. And there is an old privy on the property that just as old as the gas station and maybe we will find something there other than fertile soil.

I’m delighted to here you decided to get back out and do some detecting. Sounds like you got a tough dig as your welcome back; 3 ft down in the Texas heat 🥵🥵🥵. Hopefully you’ll find some treasures amongst all the rust. With there having been an old business there surely you’ll luck up on some silver coins. Wishing you much luck!🍀🍀🍀

Yeah sounds like you have been there a while. I would go check out Yellowstone. Some Ytubers say it's going to blow. Come see WA some day and see the mountains. Ranier, Adams, and St Helens.
@baneverything55802 жыл бұрын
@@gordonv2456 The biggest danger in Yellowstone is explosive eruptions caused by underground water flashing to steam. These can be extremely powerful and happen regularly every few hundred years and leave huge craters in the ground. Earthquakes can set them off. There are dozens of much smaller volcanoes around the world that erupt regularly that dim the sun that are a huge threat to civilization. There were two in 536 A.D. and afterwards in the 600s that today would kill billions by ending food production completely.

That's a slew of great finds...all of you pulled out, today. Good hunting !!! Gin, later you might talk with an electronics tech, and have him/her put a speaker toggle (or slide) switch on face (or side) of your detector, to turn speaker on/off...would save having to turn speaker volume down (or up), for hunting or when digging..simple, quick fix, and you can leave the volume set where you want it, all the time...it'll just take the speaker out of circuit, or turn it back on, when hunting. 5 minute modification....

When the detector is laying on the ground the noise it makes sounds like a big hog grunting. LOL! I would be so fun to detect sites like that. I saw a damaged box discount on a Minelab Vanquish 340 and it`s a wonderful machine. It`s a very inexpensive machine to begin with but uses the same 5 frequencies as the Equinox machines (5, 10, 15, 20, and 40 khz) and has an even more stable target ID. I could never afford a nice detector like yours or the Equinox but have found a lots of gold and silver rings with Bounty Hunter machines. One day I found three nice 14k rings, a 14k earring, and 18k gold rim glasses. Mine was stolen and my nephew bought me a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202 for Christmas and while testing it out in my sister`s yard I found a Walking Liberty half dollar but it was too worn to get a date. I started detecting in the 1970s with a very heavy Whites Coin Master that needed a whole bag of batteries. I found an 18k ring and almost 2 dollars in silver coins with it the first time I detected my grandpa`s yard.
@LuckyGin2 жыл бұрын
People always ask me tips for getting started and my number 1 answer is: just get started. Buy what you can afford and get going because even a little inexpensive machine will still find coins and such. As you’ve experienced, they can do pretty good in the field.🙂
@baneverything55802 жыл бұрын
@@LuckyGin My old Bounty Hunter only detected about 6 inches deep on coin sized objects but I was hunting parks, old baseball fields, carnival grounds, playground areas, and other public areas around a tourist lake created in the mid 1960s so it worked fine for that. But I quickly noticed I wasn`t finding any silver coins at old home sites because they were too deep. A little practice with headphones using its all metal threshold mode could have improved my luck (or a very expensive giant coil) but I was in a hurry and didn`t want to dig dozens of deep holes anyway, especially in someone`s yard, without a solid target ID. My new Vanquish will solve that problem if I ever get to detect sites like that again, but it would be better if I could choose what frequencies I want to use because it`s extremely sensitive to small targets. It does have a coin mode that favors the lower frequencies but it`s still difficult to use in very trashy areas even though it has good target separation and decent unmasking ability in many situations. The lot I`m moving to is an old site with lots of woods nearby so I`ll be able to test and learn the machine.
