[RELOADED_REMIXED] Chapter 5: The Last Transmission of the Osiris.

Reloaded Remixed is a fan edit combining elements of "The Matrix Reloaded", "The Animatrix" animated shorts, and the "Enter the Matrix" video game. The goal is to create a 2 hour film which is a tribute to the original work while presenting something completely new.
Here is a scene from "Enter the Matrix" where we first see Niobe receive the last transmission of the Osiris. The scene was originally edited to appear as if Niobe and Lock were viewing the transmission at the same time. The camera moving in and out from behind a monitor gives the appearance of a vertical wipe. It is a creative little bit of camera work that I'm surprised does not appear more in the theatrical films. This predates the Wachowskis frequent use of wipes in Speed Racer as a storytelling device.

Knowing that this is not the first time the machines wiped out Zion, makes it all seem even more hopeless. Even outside the Matrix, humans were still living a lie.

The machines with their third iteration of the matrix after the paradise and hell matrix knew that 1% of the people would escape the matrix and live out of it so they formulated the plan and repeatedly wiped out zion a few times as you have also said before, the red pills outside of were still living in the controlled life since the machines kept on repeatedly destroying zion and making certain people want to be re inserted into the matrix. But then in matrix resurections the fourth movie that Problem was solved when the human resistance left zion after the brutal events that happened there 12 years after the human and machine truce and founded a new city IO where they completely were able to hide and evade the sentinels thus evading the problem with humans living outside of the matrix.

And then you have to think about what would have happened if Osiris didn't spot the drilling, and then if the Osiris didn't even make their transmission, and then if the Logos couldn't have recovered it. I doubt the machines could have calculated all of those variables.

The plan was to have hover crafts along the machines flank to EMP them along the way to ZION. Smith mucked it up when he caused his own ships EMP to blow stranding the other ships and not killing any sentinels.

Remember, through the extended content of "Animatrix", we learn that, after achieving sentiency, the machines initially wanted to live in peace with humans and maintained good diplomatic relations with them - which was translated with them choosing human-shaped appearance for their diplomats. Once it became absolutely clear to all that coexistence was impossible and "hatred" was the only thing humans would ever gave them, machines simply answered in kind, by purely embracing their inhumanity and pushing it even more : they gave up human like forms for inhumanly insectoid ones ; adopted fundamentally anti-human policies of abducting and experimenting upon prisonners of war and making no distincitons between sex, race, age or religion. But, more importantly, their hatred of humanity grew so deep that it ironically pushed them down hard over the edge of their own cold and meticulous logic. That is to say, despite the fact that the machines DID have far more reliable energetical alternatives to sustain their needs (nuclear fusion, geothermal, tidal, etc.), they specifically developped ways of exploiting the ones that drive human beings and successfully turning them into batteries. Point is : the machines' rage against mankind is so intense that they don't even care about fighting a war in an mathematically perfect way and instead, wage one purely based on inflicting the agonizing pain of despair and hopelesness. Considering how a single sentinel can easily kill any un-armed human with ease, sending one sentry for each inhabitant in Zion is just sending one simple and plain, chilling message : Eye for eye ; tooth for tooth ; machine for human. It's vengeance as it's finest and most horrifying.
