I did the sqib load also...did it with my 44mag & my 45 acp. Luckly caught it before shooting again. Scary and lucky find. Always double check powder fans!

You missed the priming stage. You seated one at a time then came back and crimped. You can both seat and crimp in one stroke saving you more time.

I dont understand why no one posting these .38 special and .357 uses the roll crimp feature built into the die.To set the roll crimp you take a seated round and back off your seating die several turns. Then run the round up into the die and screw the entire die down till you feel it touch the case. Continue screwing the die in 1/8 turn increments till you are satisfied with your crimp. Lock the die down. Now while the round is still up in the die, slowly screw in the seating plunger. Stop when it touches the projectile. It should be locked down then as well. Now your seater die will seat and crimp in one stroke, eliminating a final crimp stroke.

Lol your right it seems quicker to just use the taper crimp for me. Adjusting dies while reloading takes more time just my .02

@@biged7175 that's cool. I prefer using the seater die that way. Suits my style of loading better. Everybody has their own preferences.

I used to reload a lot of .38 Special but doing a cost analysis reloading .38 Special and 9 mm is not really a cost savings in my area. Right now I am picking up bullets, primers and powder and policing my brass so when the next ammo panic hits I can reload those rounds. Now .45 ACP, .357 Magnum, .44 Special and Magnum are still a significant savings. Wondering if other reloaders such as yourself are seeing similar results and what calibers are they holding off reloading.

Well i can reload for half the price almost..my brass is free from other shooters..i always charge low so I get more rounds and got primers on sale....

I am getting rid of a bunch of .38 brass and keepig only the Federal, the Winchester and the Remington-Peters. It just about over multiplied itself. Next the 9mm is going to go the same way; I love to reload but I can take or leave it as far as shooting; haven't got back into the mood yet. You have a good careful way of reloading and I really like that!

@Big ED Another excellent video Ed. Thank you! Very timely for me as I just started getting into reloading. Quick question. I ran my first batch of 38 spcl this weekend loading 158 gr LSWC. The lead seems really soft and when I seated the projectiles I noticed lead shaved onto the casings. Should I expand the case mouths more or use some sort of lube on the projectiles? Thanks! Keep up the informative vids!!
@biged7175

Bonham I might try and expand the case mouth a tad more, but its not the biggest deal to get a little lead right shaved off. It happens to me here and there.

You're not using the case mouth expander. And not checking the rounds in the firearm. My RCBS dies were leaving the case mouth area large and my loaded rounds were sticking when I tried them in my Ruger revolver. I switched over to my old Lyman seating die and all my rounds are coming out nice and tight. All are loading fine into my firearm.

These hunter supply bullets are tapered in did not need the case to be flared, I've shot many 28's and .357's from multiply revolvers and never had a problem. Watch my .357 Mag video for case mouth expanding. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJS5kIZojN92hqc

How much does the whole setup cost and how much money can be saved?
@adrian20971
@adrian20971 4 жыл бұрын
The setup cost depends on your kit. Dies are expensive or cheap depending on your setup. i.e .38 special versus .38 S&w. The value for money depends on how much you shoot. If you shoot fifty rounds a month then reloading is not for you.
