Today I learned after many years of reloading that you can flip the tray over and there are smaller (pistol) holes in the back. I just never thought to look under there and recently I was super frustrated by having to fight to retieve shorter cases I had put in (the top of) my tray. Amazing. Have a thumbs up for being a genious. I have two different trays and they both have the smaller holes on the back (I just checked).

You're a natural teacher man, I had to sub instantly. I just got this press last week and my dies etc for 9mm. I have used the lee handloaders and I reload shotgun shells, so I'm not completely green. But, I was pretty lost at first with the press though. Your video has me pumping out great 9mm ammo that runs as good as magtech or similar high quality range ammo! No more of the poly coated, aluminum cased crap for me! I haven't had much trouble and am overly cautious. I can appreciate you stressing checking the powder loads, double and triple checking, as well as checking the weight throughout the process. You made this easy! I bet my wife (doesn't even shoot guns,lol)could watch this vid and go pump out 50 rounds I could use! You don't use all the professional reloader jargon and have all these tools I don't have like most the reloading vids I've watched. Simple and to the point, but thorough and easy to watch. Great job on the vid and again, I can't tell you how much I appreciate that I found THIS vid. This video got me reloading right away and thats important to me. Ill watch for more tips and tricks in the future! I'd love a subscribe back if you like watching stuff get blown up, casting bullets and jewelry, treasure hunting... anything worth filming I upload, lol! Thanks again and be safe! Happy shooting! I appreciate the little extra details like how you manage the cases between steps and your inspection process. The part that worries me the most is trusting that the powder dispenser meters consistently and that I'm reading the scale properly.
@theindooroutdoorsman

You can get a digital scale that reads out to the hundredth of a grain. If you do the conversion, you can use a medical scale and get the thousandth of a grain.

@@theindooroutdoorsman, I've found that my powder measure is very consistent with ball powder, checking it against my RCBS mechanical scale. Even down to 4.7 grains for pistol cartridges.

Never used the beam scale that came with my kit once. I bought a digital scale long before I actually bought my first press. I like the precise reading of a digital scale, rather than the "it looks like...." I also bought a weight check set to keep it calibrated though. I know that is more of a "want" than "need" purchase, but I am a real "gadget" nerd. lol. Great video, though!

@00 00 Good advice, but I am more of a "go to the range and plink" kind of guy, rather than a precision shooter or competition shooter, so the variation really is not that noticeable for me. Appreciate the new knowledge though! Cheers, Michael.

I started with the lee breech lock challenger kit. Its a great kit and pretty much has everything you need to start reloading with the exception of components. But I just upgraded to the lee classic turret press. So I use both. I am in no real hurry when I reload. I just put on some tunes and reload until I don’t want to anymore. Like I mentioned I did go with the turret just to speed things up slightly but I am still able to do quality checks through the reloading process. Anyway good luck and hope this helps.

Great job on the video. I just purchase Lee Precision Breech Lock Challenger Kit (Red) Come with almost everything i need. I'm in the process buy what other things I'm missing. But I'm looking to reload 9mm. I have a couple questions. Would you mind doing the seating on the dies please. how you set them up the correct way and finding the right right seating for them. Now here are my questions these are based on glock 17 9mm / xd 9mm 1. Right now I'm buying reloaded rounds that are 115 gran. But I don't know the powder what is the ideal powder and what is the best or good powder to use? 2. testing out ammo should I start with 10 rounds of certain gram then do other 10 with more gram? I keep hearing doing to many rounds and your gun doesn't cycle I believe that's the term is bad for your gun. has that ever happen to you that you made bullets that locked up your gun? ONce again keep up the good work on the videos and I hope to see more video on how you setup the dies. Thanks,
@KoltKares
@KoltKares 7 жыл бұрын
thanks for watching 1 I use titegroup but your best bet it to goto you local gun store and ask to see what pistol powder they have then consult your reloading Manuel 2 yes that is how i developed my load and the only thing that will damage the gun is loads that are over the max I have not had that happen i would recommend the Lee FCD it does a amazing job of making sure every round that goes in your gun is not bulged. As long as you stay within the bounds of the reloading manual and make sure every case has about the same amount of powder with the bullet seated to the same depth there should be very little that can go wrong.

How did you decide on 1.149 oal? Your own testing? Book? Website? I just started reloading and I'm using 115 Xtreme RN with a starting charge of 4.3 grains of Win. 231 and I keep seeing a oal of 1.1. But when I do 1.1, it visually looks like the bullet is seated so low. Trying to figure this all out since I'm a beginner and I want to keep my hands.

Hey man I know this video is a few years old so idk if you still check comments, but figured I'd ask. Ive been reloading exclusively rifle cartridges for a bit now, and I'm looking to get into loading 9mm. Do you ever trim your pistol brass? I've seen differing opinions online. I imagine pistol brass doesn't grow as much as rifle brass when resized. Also, should I worry about cleaning out or decrimping the primer pockets of 9mm brass? Also heard differing opinions on the topic. Great video! Very informative!

Majority of his setup looks like it came as a kit. I have the samething. Check out Midway.com, leeprecision.com, precisionreloading.com, Amazon, or generally just google reloading presses or reloading press kits. I personally believe it’s alot cheaper to order the press as a kit rather than ordering everything separately because some of the smallest things can run you close to a $100 bucks or little more. When ordering the kit be sure to pay close attention to what comes in the kit get as much as possible with it.
