How much money does the actually save on per 50 rounds? Anyone?
@mouthbreather2802 жыл бұрын
Depends on a lot of factors. What factory ammo are you comparing it to? How much does that factory round cost you per shot? That’s what you’re figuring out savings from. Next, where are you sourcing your reloading materials, are prices consistent? How many rounds are you able to produce with that amount at a time. Are you casting your own bullets or buying off the shelf? Are you reusing casings? How many times? Hopefully at least twice for new casings. There’s manual labour which goes into all of this, from picking up after yourself after a range trip to cleaning the brass, potentially casting your own bullets ect... is this extra work worth it to you for the amount you save? Some people find this process therapeutic not just for the fact they save money. So for them it’s probably more worth it as a hobby. How many different calibers are you going to be reloading for? Not to mention the investment costs. The tools to do all this isn’t free, and you need workbench space. When’s the ROI going pay off to point you actually start saving money. Point is all these calculations are different for each person based on so many factors, and you can go way down the rabbit hole on savings, different equipment, and materials. Each person will have a different answer on how much they save, it likely won’t translate to what results you see since there’s so many variables.

For me, before pandemic price gouging, I could load 100 fmj 9mm for $14.50. With my current setup I can, no rush, load 700 rounds an hour. That rate is the same for most normal pistol cals with a bullet weight under 240gn. All things equal, most powder /bullets/brass is back to pre-pandemic levels. Primers are, sadly, 3x as expensive and are the limiting factor as most places are being scummy on prices and limits.
