Luna’s Lovey the metal vent towards the bottom of the video is the dryer vent. The 2” pvc pipe you see in the middle of the video that goes up and behind the drywall is the vent pipe for the washer..

I think it's one of those valve vents. That said, it should be higher than the source.

It's a overflow vent and it needs to be capped for the dirty water coming out but it doesn't need to be higher.

I would have added braces to the 2X4 (above and below) after you drilled through them. With only .5 inches of the stud remaining on both sides of the pipe.

The materials weren't expensive at all. For all the plumbing it wasn't more than $200-$300. The labor would be expensive if you didn't know how to do it yourself.

It’s there for you to decide how to install the water shutoff valves.. some people want them on the bottom and others may want them at the top.. hence, if they want them at the top, you can rotate the box 180 degrees and use that small section as your drain.. otherwise, you cap it..

I think you got the wrong answer. I'm betting Bernie thought you were talking about the box, not the vent. At the end of the video, you can see that they replaced that short capped off part with a longer pipe. It's probably the vent

@@Imaginaryfriendpark he did use primer and glue. Look at part of the final product at 11:45. You can clearly see the purple primer. What he was doing throughout the video was a rough general assembly. People who aren’t plumbers tend to mock things up first to make sure everything is going to fit, disassemble, and then come back and glue everything together.

That is true. Always use two hands. I was drilling a 4" hole in my roof using a hole saw attached to my drill when part way through the saw got caught up and just stuck while the drill whipped around a few times and nearly knocked me off the ladder. I been with a sprained arm and elbow for over 7 weeks now. Still haven't fully recovered.

@@RangerCaptain11A That sounds really awful. I'm thankful my incident wasn't as bad. I have developed a new kind of respect for hole saws now. I made another 5" hole on the same roof about a week ago and took it very slow. Never went full speed in fear that the saw might catch again. It's kinda like PTSD now. Heh. It's best to go slow and easy and not rush through it. While my right arm hasn't fully recovered, I was still able to use both hands while putting most of the strength on my left arm.

if those studs are not holding any structure then there's not a problem cutting out holes in the 2x4. That's very normal. No one uses 2x6 or by 8 for framing. smh

Most likely in the roof.. and you can always pull out the washers drain hose from the pvc pipe and insert the plumbing snake in there..

Ruben Hernandez not everyone installs a clean out.. it isn’t required for code.. what happens if it gets clogged between the washer machine outlet box and the clean out? How would you unclog through the clean out?

Only one mistake I seen you do at the end of the video. Red pex is for hot water, and blue pex is for cold. You will not be up to code if you only use the red.

Only thing I see without seeing finish product before Sheetrock is nail plates protecting the drain pipe from accidental screw puncture. Don’t know if it is code (I assume it would be for any water carrying line positive pressure or not). I know in my new bathroom laundry room that I built from concrete floors and walls (when I started framing it in, I used nail plates on anything that wasn’t electrical. Water supply lines and waste water pipes.
