I was at this show- very small intimate gig with Robyn Hitchcock, Peter Holsapple and Billy Bragg. Thanks so much for posting this...they played under a pseudonym "Bingo Handjob" and handed out small hand towels.

OMG! I've been looking for this song by REM for years. Got it on a little vinyl record as an insert from magazine in the 80's! I could never remember anything but the 'Oh where are you now' part!

Roger Waters said he saw Stipe perform Dark Globe at the Hammersmith Odeon so it was likely a show from May, 1989 and not this one.

Studio version is way better, but this version is cool because of the interaction with the crowd.

heidigretel hhow do you know roger waters was there?
@garycitro16745 жыл бұрын
@@purplerico Roger says that he had VIP passes to a different REM show than this one and went backstage and met them all, but Stipe stayed in the corner and didn't acknowledge him, which was fine with him. He said thier set was great, and Stipe came back and sang Dark Globe and he loved it, though some of the words were different. That's the part I don't like here. I'm fine with this interpretation, I think established artists should change things, but changing the words here is sacrilege, IMHO.
