It took awhile before I found Crush With Eyeliner but I'm so appreciative of the creativity, originality, and passion these four incredible people put into this song. Mike Mills' background vocals are superb! Peter Buck's artistry drives this song forward. Bill Berry continues to amaze. And, Michael is AMAZING!

I remember MTV simulcasting the first 3 songs from this concert live. I would get to see them a few nights later in Houston in what would be my first show ever. Radiohead opened supporting their album "The Bends." We really didn't know how good we had it back then.

Always dug this song. How about that, a band playing live and sounding great. Go figure. Thanks for posting, love the performance.

When I saw them (way back when), many in the audience were wearing a black vest, just like the one that Peter Buck is wearing in this vid. I wonder if people still do the same.

Michael Stipe's voice sounding different will be deliberate. Each song on Monster was supposed to be a different character. For an album with a lot of heavy rock, Monster's a really deep album about sexuality, identity, envy and more.

Michael said that the song is about a groupie that used to show up at their shows. She had a crush on the band and had heavy eyeliner on.

Bill Berry taking care of business with his hat and gloves on! What a great drummer! And Peter Buck switched to a Les Paul to get a harder edge sound.

I saw them during this 1995 tour (Allstate) and they were awesome! Monster is their best album IMHO.

It isn't a "parody" at all. Bill had long wanted to do a rock n' roll album which is partially what resulted in Monster. After Out of Time, Buck wanted to cut a rock record "straight to 2 track". Those are the decisions that led to Monster.

I woke up in the middle of the night... with the MTV on... and a bunch of Japanese kids were messing around to this awesome song/video thought that I had a stroke and was dreaming stuff. Woke up a lot later and found that the video and song actually were real. KZbin wasn't as live as it is now. But, I found it. Bought it as a cassette single... no video. . I

*Not sure how I feel about the sound quality on this....* Almost just sounds like a bunch of *guitar* feedback lumped into an annoying pile!!

I mean, I know it is a *guitar driven* song, but *enough is enough* sometimes.... Don't drown out *EVERYTHING* else!!
