Remaking My First Game, One Year Later | Devlog

In this devlog I remake my very first game, after a year a learning new things about game development.
And it turned into (probably) my best game so far, so expect to see some more devlogs soon!

I really like that subtle little swell you've got on your level select, like it's displayed on a curved CRT monitor. Very neat little touch, and I think something like this shows how well you're progressing as a developer. I'm currently hacking my way through doing a pause menu myself, so also well done for throwing that in, in such a functional and aesthetically pleasing way. It's a very simple concept, well executed, looks the part, and is generally just very neat and elegant. In addition to the Patreon, I think it might be an idea to put this game up for 'Pay What You Want' on itch, with a clear note that donations will go towards development equipment so that your audience has a way of passing over a one-time deal when they have the funds available.

Fun, some suggestions: -An option to remove the distortion effect, the effect makes me nauseous -Same as above for death zoom, maybe flashing red instead -Maybe a bloom effect to either everything or the player and red rectangles (will make it look fancy while keeping the minimalist graphics) -Idk how complex you want the game to be but perhaps dash, some bouncy walls, moving spikes etc Looking forward to Death Inc devlogs and whatever else you have in store :)

@@Deynum you should make some levels that focus on your ability to fly at high speed, I feel like that could set it apart from most of these type of games since they usually just force you to go slowly through cramped spaces instead

Ou should add like a enemy AI system with small guns and slow projectiles with a crack for every hit of a projectile and you should add in check points and stars to collect to unlock chapters

I like the speedrun feel to the game. The pause button should take you back to the start. Being able to resume after pausing breaks the pace of the game.

@@crazygames1144 if you play newer versions, you should definitely use sodium mods and Vsync. Normally I have like 10 FPS without anything when I am lucky in chunks without redstone or chunks, and with sodium, I have constantly 30 FPS... which is pretty much all I need. I kinda like Sodium more since you can add other mods (like seeing what's inside shulkers without placing). The only features I use optifine for is better grass (which you can have a resource pack for), zoom (there are zoom mods), no fog especially in the nether (not really necessary when you can have bigger chunk distance anyway) and connected glass which is probably the only big downside of using sodium

The movement system though! please use Input.GetAxis() or input.GetAxisRaw() its much easier
