I want to see: 1. Colors 2. Providing a Light for night reading/working. Maybe by making the upper part of the device as light strip & having it foldable toward the screen to shed light on it. 3. Skimming button. A cylindrical rubbery button on the side of the device (up or middle) when you press to side or diagonally with thumb will let you skim through pages like a paper book or note. This will give a feeling of real book when quickly skimming pages. You can control the speed of skimming through settings. 4. Remotely sharing screens & working with others on notes to discuss a subject or formulating an idea. Both parties can write on the note during discussion. I like the idea of settings for scroll speed. Which I imagine would help adjust the pinch to zoom feature. Great list here.

I've been disappointed in Remarkable, both their changing business model (which is almost a cliche at this point so I won't go into it) but also the long-term performance of the device itself. I've already had to replace the so-called "premium" marker twice, transferring files is extremely slow/inconsistent whether by wifi or over a wired connection, and my device's battery life is about 15% what was advertised (and any attempts to contact customer service just goes around in circles). The one reason I've kept the device over moving to another one is that the tactile feel of writing still resembles pen on paper the most of all competitors. But I think they will really have to bring something special to the table if they want to win back some of the people they've lost over the last few years.

Great insight on what could be with this device, but I have a few ideas based on my own experiences. As having owned a few different versions of e-ink tablets RM1 & RM2, Super note, Ipad Pro & Kobo Elipsa coloured as well as EEE note 800 to name a few. Each in their own way had something to offer the others didn't, but not one of them did it perfectly. For example Remarkable has ease of use but super note, had the better pen, EEE note had the camera at the back but the Kobo had the colour and the backlight and I agree with you there, not everyone has the time during the day to write. Though, these days, I tend to use the super note more than the remarkable for writing with a pen, simply because the experience is better. If Remarkable does decide to release the model 3 (And I hope they do!) I would like if they would consider the following. People use these for one or two things taking notes and to keep journals, and I hope that when they do decided to release the next one, that the camera is on the back along with publishing software to use with the keyboard as that would be a start. Another is the pen, I really don't like the one for remarkable (I have the one with the eraser) it just does not feel right, I've used the super note version and believe me, it feels more like a biro than any of them. That, the eraser gesture is pretty good. Also if they would add a spell checker as an app. My reason behind this is they claim people use these for writing, then what's the harm in adding one? I get frustrated as in the middle of typing a letter I have to go and find a dictionary to figure the correct spelling especially since I tend to switch my phone off at night. I really would like to use this device more, but as it stands, it's just a novelty at the moment, hopefully they can do better. Also, they need to fix the reading of books on this, as compared to the others, they are getting left behind. Even super note has the Kindle app.

I have had the product from the get go, so was grandfathered into the connect plan. I will say that if you treat the connect plan as a cloud storage or application, then its common to see a monthly fee. Not sure though if the extra features are worth the $3 a month though.

Not sure why people complain about this? You're buying a $300 device & the subscription is $36 or so a year. Meanwhile, people pay $350-600 for another device with no subscription fee & are happy 😂

Good Video - The highlighting is a big one - but for me a faster processor on the Remarkable and the connectivity to Apple Notes/Notion is the key - I know I can always “export” as a PDF but it is not quite as seamless as the IPAD BUT nothing beats taking notes on the Remarkable. Thanks!

I feel that reMarkable as a brand and with its tablets and design is going to become so relevant in a few years that I wouldn't be surprised to see schools opting to invest in them rather than iPads. Seriously, it has too much of a future. I don't see that coming from Supernote, let alone Boox. If they alone went from reMarkable 1 to what is reMarkable 2 in just four years, I'm excited to see the quality and originality of reMarkable 3 in a few years. I feel that they will opt for an almost zero distance between film and EInk display, like the Fujitsu Cuaderno A4 2nd Gen. Better resolution is to be expected anyway. Good video!

Thanks for the comment. I never thought of the application used in a school setting. I think this could be a great place. I think kids on chrome tablets and ipads is often too much and simply asking a child to write out their thoughts, notes and showcase their problem solving is a gap in the education system. This would provide that, while still providing a connected solution.

As much as possible. Seeing they don't have a regular release schedule its hard to determine when they might release it. However, just like most tech devices, you start to see signs that a new device is coming.

@@bodendorfer Still, they'll have to move soon because from what I'm reading some of their customer base are already filtering off towards Boox and Supernote, and once they lose people to those platforms, its _'unlikely'_ they'll return. Still, the Boox UI might be too bigger hill to climb for some _'reMarkable switchers',_ but you can certainly use a Supernote like a reMarkable if you really want to, and ignore its other attributes. Personally, I'd love to see reMarkable succeed... being one of the few e-ink devices that isn't based in China.

Supernote is superior in software vastly. Not perfect, but definitely superior. I’d like to see Supernote software running on a remarkable device… hopefully Ratta gets the A5X2 out soon

If the A4X2 has split screen mode I'll probably wait for that but if I discover it hasn't... I'll keep my A5X and purchase the A5X2 and make my own split-screen mode with the both of them!

Remarkable needs to remove things they added to the software and that make it less user friendly: - Remove the “add page” icon. New pages should be added automatically with the next page gesture, like in older versions of the software. Much better. - The unlimited page length made navigation very clumsy, and at the same time didn’t provide full unlimited canvas experience because width is limited. For this reason, this feature should be removed for notebooks, and add instead a new type of document called “unlimited canvas” in which you have only ONE page of unlimited size. - Typed text should be removed. It’s very uncomfortable to use with the on-display keyboard, and if you use the hardware keyboard it’s heavy and thick. Remarkable is about lightness and minimalism. - Don’t add backlit screen please. People wanting this need an iPad. Period. Now, for things that should be added: - Thicker brush modes. It’s disappointing that you don’t have gigantic thick brushes for painting big areas. - A set of gray tones to choose from. Four or five grays would be fine. A slider for fine-tuning your own gray shades would be excellent. - Color eink would be of course an amazing experience, but only if you do it great. If it makes the drawing experience less responsive and less fluid, don’t add color and better concentrate on gray shades as I said above.

I've had the rm2 since 2021 and now my power button gets stuck and cannot use it sometimes. Hopefully they fix this issue.

@@bodendorfer I see one, possible indication of a new device on the horizon, though I admit it is a bit of a stretch: A recent software update (3.13 I think) introduced a new onboarding process. Since there was nothing wrong with the old onboarding process (i.e. basic tutorial at first power-on) I have to ask myself, why replace it? One explanation is that the older version did not cover features of a new device, so they needed to revamp the code with conditionals like: query the hardware generation, if it is greater than 3 then describe how the accelerometer enables switching from portrait to landscape mode, etc. This is pure, wishful thinking on my part, I admit. But it is at least a plausible explanation for why an update like that was developed.

You're taken away from the whole idea of the remarkable. It's supposed to be just a plain electronic notebook. Now you're asking for a full-fledged computer. With that being said, color would be nice. My only complaint with the remarkable two is you cannot save your files in the original form on a separate drive or computer. You have to export them as a PDF or a JPEG.
