Myocardial infarction (MI), colloquially known as "heart attack," is caused by decreased or complete cessation of blood flow to a portion of the myocardium. Myocardial infarction may be"silent," and go undetected, or it could be a catastrophic event leading to hemodynamic deterioration and sudden death.
In this video, we will cover the definition of MI, its causes and risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, and nursing interventions. We will also discuss the importance of early recognition and intervention in the management of MI.
As nursing students and healthcare professionals, it is essential to understand the signs and symptoms of MI, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, and sweating, and how to assess and manage patients experiencing these symptoms.
