Gouldian Finches in aviary outside, Gouldamadines in buiten voliere

My gouldian finches are beautiful and fit for a new breeding season. I do not use breeding cages, but nest boxes in the aviary and so i breed natural colony. This will get strong young birds, that can stay outside all year. I use the small aviary to temporarily set birds aside.

Thanks for the interesting videos. Please tell me, are the plants in your cages natural or fake? And how is it possible to put natural plants in a large cage and what types of indoor plants can be put in a cage for finches?

I have a few questions, I will be glad if you answer. How many birds do you keep in the area of the size you have written below? Are birds not aggressive to each other during the breeding season? How do they pick nest boxes, don't they spoil other nests? I heard that the Gouldians failed colony breeding. Can you get the amount of puppies you hoped for? Is there no kin match in colony production? If so, aren't these matches a problem? Thank you.

Hi Mustafa, a lot of questions, but i like to answer them. I start in april with 10 a 12 birds. These are mostly my own breed, and i buy some fresh blood. So there is no inbreeding. Males and females are from different nests. During the breeding season the birds are not really aggressive but they will chase each other to get a partner and best nest. They protect the nest when they have eggs. But don't spoil. Just provide enough birdhouses. I breed only colony with succes. Last season 30 young birds. They all stay together in the aviary during winter. And I select and sell in march. And start all over.

No the don't need heating the can fly inside and I isolate during winter. So inside the temperatur won't drop under 10°c outside it is inportend that the are out off the wind. But the cold the can handle.

I live in Dallas, Texas. I've been told that gouldian finches won't make it outside here. Wondering what country you are in and the kind of temperature they'll survive. Beautiful birds and set up. Thanks for sharing.

Hello thank you for your comment. I live in the Netherlands and here the winters are not that bad. Some times -10 c. My birds are use to be outside but they can come inside also wen its getting too cold for them. In de winter i cover my aviary up with plastic glas for shelter and the stay out of the wind. Thanks

Dat is een zilver gould. Kruising met een blauwe man en gele pop. De snavels van de poppen worden zwart als ze broedrijp zijn.

Hoi Willem Goulds kunnen heel goed met andere vogels, ik raad geen sijzen aan want die zijn in de broed periode wat agressiever naar andere vogels.

These are well looked after birds. In the wild their habit is disappearing and they are becoming endangered 😢
