A friend of mine served on that jury. She wouldn't talk to us about it during the trial, but after it was over we (several friends in our circle) were out drinking and asked her what the heck happened and why did they only award the USFL $1. She said that even though the jury thought NFL colluded with the networks to block the USFL from getting tv coverage, there was never any guarantee the USFL would ever turn a profit...however, she also said that the lead plaintiff, a guy named Trump (he wasn't as well known then and she'd never heard of him before the trial) was "an arrogant blowhard" and "such a total asshole" (her words) that she and her fellow jurors decided "Fuck him, give him a dollar!" I still smile when I remember that.

They didn't find evidence of substantial monetary harm...the usfl was a long shot and might/probably would have failed even if Trump hadn't insisted on Sunday games. But the fact that Trump was a noxious douchebag allowed them to feel less sympathy when they chose not to award damages.

However, please note that testing for COVID-19 should be conducted whenever possible."
