What I love about this stove is how simple it is. The compactness and ease of transport are just compliments at this point

In boyscout we called it "Alyosha" (russian boys name). I remember constant problems with it, it was working terribly. Till we run out of clean gasoline and had to ask other campers. The only kind guy to help us was the one with a "Trabi" car. He sucked for us a bit from his car fuel tank. Now, trabi is a two stroke, the fuel is gasoline mixed with oil. And it did work just perfect - while german Juvel stove - the best eastern block clone of optimus - got stuck.....

As a kid I had one of these, an original rather than the Russian version. From memory there is no need to siphon off a bit of fuel to preheat the burner. You merely placed your hand on the tank for a short time and then opened the valve. There was enough pressure generated to pump some fuel into the heating bowl. Light that and then follow the same process as shown in the video. I remember that we used petrol in our stove, perhaps the extra volatility enabled this dodge. Great little stove, reliable and produced lots of heat.

Fun fact, parts are still readily available from Russia and the Ukraine brand new for not much money. There is also two versions of the seal that goes in around the valve handle. One is a heat resistant rubber O ring type and one is a rope type. Cost wise these little stoves are absolutely worth it and work much better than isobutane in cool/cold weather.

If you put your hands on the tank, the warmth from them will pressurize the tank enough to prime and light the stove.

The standard pump accessory does not fit the thread on this stove as it is designed for the Optimus stoves and fits their direct clones. 🙁

Today on the gas stove channel. We have a stove that predates safety. A time when the world was happy to risk burning the forest down every time little jimmy goes camping.

I inherited one and the pump is on the side of the tank. Looks quite old and unfortunately it’s missing the 2 metal legs that support the pan 😢 If anyone could point me in the right direction for spares I’d be grateful.

In Ukraine, such stoves can be bought not very expensive. They sell a lot. But the build quality usually leaves a lot to be desired. always need to redo and correct minor errors. They are not very popular with us.
@charlietango16352 жыл бұрын
The main problem is they only use a small piece of crepe bandage as a wick, which is not enough to draw the fuel through the tube, you should only use Coleman fuel for these stoves, petrol is too dangerous.
@stacyhazelwood40333 жыл бұрын
