I've been playing the piano for more than a decade but I still struggle with sight-reading base clef notes. Thank you for the helpful mnemonics!

I think I figured out a trick for the bass clef? If you just memorize the treble clef all of the corresponding notes on the bass clef are 2 letters up on a lower octave. A C note on the treble becomes an E on the bass etc. A->C, B->D, C->E, D->F, E->G, F->A, G->B.
@RobertWF422 жыл бұрын
Yes I was thinking the same thing! Makes you wonder why we don't simply adjust the bass clef to match the treble clef?

I'm a music teacher, and I wonder if you could answer a few questions for me, please. 1. How old were you when you were taught that mnemonic? 2. Did you feel at that time that it helped you? 3. Do you still feel today that it helped you back then? 4. Do you still use it? 5. Can you read the bass clef fluently today? With "fluently", I mean that you see a note and instantly know what it is, without resorting to mnemonics or counting or trying to remember. 6. If the answere to the previous question was "yes", then how long did it take you until you were able to read the bass clef fluently?

This didnt help that much. I already have acronyms but when i am playing i usually dont have enough time to read and translate the notes. is there any eat i can memorize them quickly
@thomaspiaskowski218 жыл бұрын
Honestly you just need to practice sight reading. It can be challenging at first but get the muscle memory down, then the translation problem will go away. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE :D

Don't use tricks. There aren't any tricks that work. The only thing that will enable you to read music is to read a lot of music. Play a different piece that you have never played before each day. Don't practice it. Just play it from beginning to end, disregarding any errors. It doesn't matter how bad it sounds, just muster all your courage and get through. It doesn't have to be a difficult piece, but the longer it is, the better. It's perfectly OK if you choose pieces that are below your level. Depending on your IQ and your ability to remain concentrated for several minutes, it will take you between 30 and 60 days. Trust me, there is no faster way.

This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "how to memorize notes on piano" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Diyharlotte Essential Dominion - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a good exclusive product for discovering how to hand your child the trick to read music notes minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cousin got amazing success with it.
