I hope all those former schoolmates can see him today and feel disgusted by their actions in the past. This guy is actually quite known here in Korea and he's also known for being Kim Youngchul's (Knowing Bros) English teacher (not sure if that's still the case). At least he's living a good life today while his old Korean schoolmates are probably having a stressful life at the office.

I'm always so surprised when I hear about this type of bullying (in Korea)... One of my good friends, growing up, was from Korea... I now have an 11 year-old son, one of his best friends was born in Korea, and another is second-generation... Their mothers have become my friends as well and they are both so awesome. During the pandemic, we have focused on play dates with our three boys. I guess ignorance is found everywhere... I'm black (American), so I am very familiar with racism and bigotry... I hope those bullies have changed their thought process.

@@Vampybattie It get's worse in countries with unbalanced demographics, that's why very mixed nations have so many problems i.e African countries, central Asian and Middle Eastern where there are many different cultures and ethnic groups. In a country where you are rare and not seen as a cultural threat, people are less worried. It's basic human behaviour to be defensive of one's ethnicity/culture as it is "survival" to a human, as it is to any animal. Not always positive trait but one that is part of being human.

My children are half Asian, too. The older one was attacked, bullied, but she fought back. My younger one was at an alternative school where she was amazingly protected, not just by her friends, but their older siblings, as well. I did notice favoritism towards the white relatives by their one grandma, but I don't think the grandma of my older daughter would have done that. I am thankful my husband's father just loved them unconditionally.

I'm Asian and Native American/Hispanic mix. My brother and I at the time growing up were the mixed kids at the Asian gatherings. I often got asked who my father was at those parties because I didn't look fully Asian as I had different features. In school I was too Asian to be in the Hispanic groups or too Hispanic to be Asian groups. Even among my Asian peers in school I was called "half Asian". It's more difficult I say around family that it felt like I didn't belong because it was so traditional and my brother and I was different so we were treated differently compared to my fully Asian cousins. But with the new generation and thinking, it's more acceptable now as it was when I was growing up so not as much judgement in family. But, I'm proud of my diversity as I have ties to different cultures.

Well even for full blood ethnicity living in a different country you get the same discrimination. I was born in The US but full Mexican, I don’t look fully Mexican because of my lighter skin. I was called white washed in Mexico and beaner in America. In the end nothing really bothered me, I knew who I was and made haters incredibly uncomfortable being more confident then them. I think mixed races are cool because they get so much culture it’s amazing to see them blend everything together.

@@yadiaag7771 No such thing as mixed races as there are only one race. This “different human race” concept is very American, and not new. You can’t look “Asian” as Asian is a geographical term and not a race nor ethnicity🫣👀😬🙄 Hispanic only means that you speak Spanish regardless of ethnicity/nationality… and you can’t be half a person. Percentage and blood quantity doesn’t matter. You can’t measure people. You are who you are based on the blood/DNA of your ancestors running trough you. And regardless of what people say or assume due to ignorance, racism and prejudice, only you can decice what to identify as.

My children "half Swedish, half Black American"...I write that in quotes because one must ask are they really half anything when our Creator gave Adam & Eve the genes for all colors of the One Human race....narrowed down to one family that survived the flood- Gen 9:19 says..."These three were Noah's sons, and all the Earth's population came from them and spread abroad.".....So get over it y'all haters and start concentrating on a new earthly start with all our family united.!......and by the way this teaching helped my children survive the "What is you, black or white?" questions from the blacks in the southern town we live in. Being black I was expecting the scorn more from the southern whites who although unapproving still kept their mouths shut. So you just make your Somalii-Swedish kiddies proud of being able to demonstrate more profoundly via their appearance that, which we all are,...members of the same human race🥰

I know how he feels. I am Korean-Filipino and when I was a kid in the Philippines, since I did look so Korean in an all-Filipino school, I was bullied a bit and some would even make the "slanted eyes" gesture in front of me. It hurt for a while, but now, I've never been more proud to be both Korean and Filipino. I made a lot of friends in the Philippines that I still meet up with whenever I would go on a vacation there and I also have made Korean friends and they even became friends with my Filipino friends. I was lucky that both the Korean and Filipino sides of my family made me feel loved and accepted growing up.

I felt special and unique to have two different sides although at times I did feel a little out of place on both sides when with different family members. It wasn't until I was older that I had a group of asian friends where I really felt at times like I did not fit in based on the comments they would make, saying I was whitewashed etc. They were still my friends but I definitely felt like I wasn't "asian" enough for them at times and that I didn't always belong.

I’m a quater Chinese and the rest British, I remember being told in school that “I’m not even good enough to be fully white or fully Asian”, I got called white by Asian people and “not white” by white people. I got all the racist Chinese jokes thrown at me and got called yellow a lot, and to top it off I study Japanese so I get told often I’m a shame to my race (which I got from my grandad too). I wanted to talk excitedly about Chinese New Year and other things with other Chinese students, but they looked down on me like my opinion was invalid. For a period of time I wished I could just be fully one race or atleast half, but as I’ve grown ive realised I’m so proud to be Chinese ☺️ I still feel not as worthy as my quater Chinese friend who speaks Chinese but I’m getting better at accepting myself. It’s really cool to be part Chinese and it’s awesome looking back at our long family tree, even if I look mainly white I still consider an important part of myself Chinese ☺️

I can relate I’m a quarter Japanese and the rest African. However, I managed to get some asian features. I was teased for my slanted eyes, got called “Jackie chan’s” daughter told I eat cats & dogs & I couldn’t fit in anywhere I was too “asian” for black people even though I’m more black than asian & too black for asian people

I live in USA. A country of multi ethnic background. I’m full Asian of my race but I look mix. If my hair is blonde I look predominantly Caucasian and a little Asian. Darker hair and I look Latin/Caucasian and a little Asian. My race makes fun of me all the time, criticizing me and was always mean to me because I looked different, liked different things and characteristics differ. I never understood why people are like that.

I am so sorry he got bullied as a kid. That's one of the reasons I think diversity is good. When everyone around you looks just like you, that's all you know and it's hard to accept anything different, or understand them. If I was in his classroom as a little girl, I would have been the one staring at him from afar dreaming of marrying him when I grew up. He has a great personality and seems really sweet. And ok, yes, he's very handsome, but that doesn't matter if the inside isn't great.

What he said is not true about American food. He is just limited on what he has eaten. We eat many types of chicken dishes, baked, grilled, boiled, steam. There are many different cultures who live in USA, so we have a large variety of different foods. The low cost of food in Korea is amazing. Not so much in USA.

I don't know if I am good enough, I am scared to go to korea. Because I don't look enough, what is even the point of saying I am korean if I don't even look enough korean to full blooded koreans
