I still go back to Ben's memorial page every couple of years. It's rare for any webpage to stay online for so long. It really speaks to the impact he had. I mainly knew Ben from #trax, and he sent me some computer hardware.

Thanks for posting this, Jim. Ben really was in the middle of living when he died, and it still hits me pretty hard when I think of all the things I never got to share with him. I had the difficult responsibility of helping his family wind down his affairs and the shock was universal. I was out of town when it happened, and he was watching my cats. He literally died with my keys in his pocket while he was getting an old phone ready to send to an ebay auction winner. He was like the smarter more experienced older brother I never had and I still miss him terribly.

I had no idea. I'm really sorry. I guess we just have to remember all of the people he helped, and all of the friends he made.

Hey sorry to bug you but what happened to your video with this title? "PC Demo: Fishtro (assembly '92 invitation) by Future Crew" A friend linked it to me last year - I tried watching it again and it's gone. Any reason to delete it?

Jonne Valtonen (Purple Motion)'s music kept getting stolen and claimed by other artists, so he got the copyright assigned to his music production company and entered into content ID. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow any usage rights, so that killed the music, and the invtro isn't any fun without the music, so I removed it.

@@JimLeonard That really bugs me. If I had your video in my possession right now, I'd make a quick narrated video just saying due to BS copyright, this video isn't accepted on youtube, and then I'd link to the actual video either in the description or comments. I am so sick of these copyright people flooding the internet and trying to ruin this place. I want to fight back but I won't expect you to put the video anywhere for me - just venting.

@@nirv I do see Jonne's point though. It must royally suck to have some demoscene music you wrote 30 years getting claimed by other musicians -- who falsely claim they wrote it -- and then making money of his work. I do get it. I just wish that youtube would only ever allow 100% ad revenue back to the copyright holder instead of forcing the audio offline.

@@JimLeonard I know. But I am copyleft until the day I die. KZbin punished me for streaming an old cassette audiobook so of course I made a video about it and linked the full download in the comments. KZbin will never stop me from doin----ahhhhhhhhhhhh 💥*dialtone* ☎

Sorry to hijack a discussion, but that name... "Jim Leonard"... where do I know it from? PC tracker music 'scene from the 90's? Greetings from an old has-been. ;) ZOMG It's Trixter! Hell, we even chatted a few times back in the day. I think I've kept those emails for almost 25 years!

I probably have them too :-)

@@JimLeonard ; well thanks just for being awesome. ;) Wish I'd gotten into the 'scene before it kinda' fizzled out at the tail end.
