I remember when Dan lost I said I would never watch Big Brother again. I’ve watched every season but I’ve always hated the fact that he didn’t win that season. He deserved it so much. I hate a bitter jury! I was not a fan of Paul but thought he deserved to win as well.

@Kyle Watson I can understand being bitter towards someone like Paul who made personal attacks, but Dan was extremely respectful and kind in the house. The BB14 cast got bitter about gameplay, most other seasons the jury got bitter because of personal attacks.

@Kyle Watson in Ian’s answers he was straight up lying about his gameplay, and took credit for things he was really a puppet in, so it’s understandable. All the jury house segments showed that Dan had no chance, and Will said 90% of the time the jury already know who they’re voting for before the questions.

Thank you for this Taran. Really such a great indept analysis. Pretty shocked at how bitter Frank and Shane still are. I find it sad that they can't look at the genius that is Dan's game for what it is. I can't imagine being a fan of this game and not being able to enjoy his game play.. they're missing out.

Wasn't Frank the one that didn't use deodorant. He was loud and aggressive as I remember, but there was something about him hating chemicals therefore no deodorant. Am I confusing him with someone else?

@@wadejarati641 - Dr. Will is in my top 5, but the game was very different by the time we got to BB10. Even during All Stars, Will & Boogie were the cool kids in school, & others played accordingly. In BBUS, I don't know how well either Dan or Will would do in today's version of BB.

@@teleiamc well as returning players they probably wouldn't do so well as they are Legends/Goats...that includes Dan as well. However if we imagine that they come in as new players as well in this era, Dan has the edge on comps but id imagine Will would play same game as Kevin from BBCAN 10, minimum comp wins but maximum manipulation... today's BB players wouldn't know what to do with someone as smart and disarmingly charming as Dr Will. Lol

I know this is literally years late but I just saw this, and after listening to the full video, I gotta say that I would give both hands, my left foot, and my right eye to go back in time and have Taran be doing live feed updates during this. I would have loved to have seen his reaction to it playing out live, and giving the updates as he slowly realized that this was actually going to work.

Frank’s dismissal of the move is actually pretty embarrassing. He will obviously never give Dan credit and it makes him look pathetic. Dan didn’t win, but he cemented his legacy and as a huge Dan fan that is good enough for me. This moment will live on forever.

The show covered up him being a disgusting person especially towards Dan. They wanted to paint Dan as the bad guy and they did, that’s why Frank won. Also, Franks personality showed in the other big brother he was on and they decided not to cover that up.

I love how there’s an hour and 2 minute long set up to how painstakingly clear it was that Dan’s BB career was over. Basically a full case is made regarding how no one left in the game even has a choice to keep Dan for political reasons, and how the perfect storm of events transpired to keep Dan from any power. But the best part is that it wasn’t over.

2 years after your stream and ten years after the most iconic moment of Big Brother, I still (and even before your stream occurred) go back and watch the episode, the clips, this stream etc because it really was that fucking great and truly encapsulated why I love this game so much.

I remember Julie Chen opening that episode quoting mainstream new articles which were comparing Dan to Paul Newman in some movie, it was a true Allstar & legend move. I wish I was watching the live feeds then. I started live feed in BB15. the episode opening

It's pretty annoying for most of them to say "oh yeah I totally saw through it and yadda yadda yadda" when in the show they were all completely played, Frank put basically all his trust on him afterwards and Ian was all the way with him until the very end where he got some sort of random confidence even after he threw so much for Dan

Season 14 was a great season to watch. Some of my favorites came back like Britney, Janelle but especially Dan. He was always so compelling to watch.There was real strategizing going on. They took risks, Interesting players, loved Ian too. Take note production.

Frank really lost big, although I disdain his personal attacks on Dan, I don't actually think it's really that big of a deal that he hates Dan and wants to eliminate him, plus he did win the comps and get the power to eliminate Dan. The problem is that if he wants to play this way, he'd better follow through. Even if he eliminates Dan for personal reasons, which won't damage Dan's reputation in the BB community, at least he can claim the title of 'taking Dan down'. But while he wanted to defeat Dan, he also wanted to strategize to protect Dan and use Dan. This combination of emotional and strategic gameplay ultimately led to him not even achieving the reputation of "knocking Dan off his pedestal," but instead became a stepping stone for Dan to ascend to the pantheon, and a clown who was tricked by Dan and could only rage impotently. He really got the worst of both worlds. In fact, this also warns newbies playing with especially good returning players, that they should always deem these returning players to be targets, and not think about using them to get further. Because every time you protect them, you are adding points to their resume, not yours.

As much as Dan is touted as the best player ever, I remember being a huge Ian fan that season, and was ecstatic that he won. Dan played the game like a chessmaster, and as Michie/Jackson would say, "chestnut checkers" when it comes to Big Brother. But people are not chess pieces, and Dan did not stick the landing in his Final 2 speech, whereas Ian totally nailed it. I still think Ian was a very deserving winner, especially since we have winners like Adam and Jordan and Josh.

Ian was oblivious the entire game, and skated by due to very lucky comp wins. He’s lucky pandora’s box was a thing, because he would’ve gone home in Britney’s place if it wasn’t.

@@TheMurrmursonbottle luck plays a role in every win. And lots of winners don't have complete information in the game. It's easy to say someone is oblivious as if that is a character flaw, but when they are being actively deceived, it's easy to see why they make decisions based on what they personally know. Ian didn't have the feeds. I don't expect him to just spontaneously know what is being said in other rooms, behind closed doors, just because I know what is being said.

@@TB-kl5vn well, one of these gentlemen played a game that got him to one of the final two chairs, and lost. The other played a game that got him to one of the final two chairs, and won. Ian didn't play a more entertaining game, or a more 'strategic' game, but he did play a winning game. Dan was always playing for second place, and Ian knew it. That's why Ian was never afraid of sitting next to Dan in the Final 2. That's a remarkable insight in and of itself.

I appreciate other opinions and Ian is a good kid, but it depends on what perspective you take..Dan was a nicest winner after season 10. Now he comes back and actually became a satan of the game. Did I like what he did to HGs? NO! I hated it! I felt horrible, but then I look from a perspective of the game....And I can't deny the brilliance of his mind and the way he made it HIS game. His impact is so undeniable and in the end of the day I respect a good game. Because it's a game.
