"I don't think that people accept the fact that life doesn't make sense. I think it makes people terribly uncomfortable." - David Lynch

"Good morning yesterday You wake up and time has slipped away And suddenly it's hard to find The memories you left behind Remember Do you remember The laughter and the tears The shadows of misty yesteryears The good times and the bad you've seen And all the others in between Remember Do you remember the times of your life (do you remember) Reach back for the joy and the sorrow Put them away in your mind For memories are time that you borrow To spend when you get to tomorrow Here comes the setting sun The seasons are passing one by one So gather moments while you may Collect the dreams you dream today Remember Will you remember the times of your life Gather moments while you may Collect the dreams you dream today Remember Will you remember the times of your life Of your life" Paul Anka

I love that interview clip with David in the beginning where he says we need our bodies to do the spiritual growth. I see our bodies like a suitcase or a trunk carrying the baggage from our last life and what we collect in this one. Each incarnation we must do our best to sort thru the baggage and rid ourselves of what we no longer need and to infuse what we need into our code so it becomes a permanent part of us. The goal is to have smaller and smaller amounts of baggage after each incarnation until No Luggage (body) required.

When I was a little girl, I saved up my pocket money to buy an Elvis mug. I treasured that thing. One sad day the handle broke off. I continued using the cup until the day Elvis died, then I tossed everything out: posters, feelings, the mug. I learned a lot about impermanence that day. R.I.P. David Lynch. 💙

Rest in a peace, in a really weird space, Mr. David Lynch. Thank you so much for providing for us, such great films.

Should’ve just chatted with Vance for this one imo. He seems to have a better grasp on Lynch and his works. Lynch wasn’t given the Elephant Man or offered Return of the Jedi because he was strictly arthouse. How does the Straight Story conform to this take on his work? His unique vision and approach combined with technical excellence and attachment to classical Hollywood aesthetics placed him in a genre defying category of his own . A unique & irreplaceable talent

My favorite DL film is Blue Velvet. Interesting that you guys talked a bunch about Lost Highway. My wife picked that one for our tribute to watch; the night we found out he died.

Just to mention, Chris mentions artists who express dreaming and David Lynch was one of the last, and you mentioned Max Ernst. There is another artist who is still alive, Jim Woodring, a cartoonist, who in my opinion is still channeling something on that level through his art--though he also is I think in his 70s

I just couldn't get into Twin Peaks kind of like Game of thrones, I just didn't get it. Or Harry Poterr too. I felt like eww I need Star Trek to cleanse my palate. Gene Roddenbury was pure genius and that's the future I want to live for. I guess I missed the point. l often do. there is no sci fi that has a positive outlook for humanity. It's all zombie apocalypse nightmare shite. Not the new Star Trek, it's all woke crap, I'm talking old Star Trek series. Original ST, STNG, Voyager, Enterprise, even DS9 was acceptable. Everything after that is crap. I'm wondering in the new Star Trek universe, are there homosexual transvestite Vulcans? Highly illogical not to mention absurd and offensive. Marxism took over Star Trek imo. So sad, it was such a great vision, now it's all ruined like everything else I guess. I hate this world.

Black Vulcan,Janeway's voice,Neelix and the Mexican guy all killed Voyager for me. All else you mentioned is spot on. DS9;were hit or miss. I thought the new Battlestar Galactica was epic post 9/11 SciFi.
