True but at the same time giving up isn't gonna make things better for yourself and the people who counted on you especially who admired and idolize you to be the person that they wanted you to be for yourself and them even your loved ones. @@InvestedGman (I apologize in advance for this essay. Just wanted to get my thoughts out lol.) Yeah but seeing stuff like this happen is what makes a story good. It's realistic in terms that not everyone has the strength to keep going. Death Arms isn't wrong about what he said. You can have a whole streak of good days, but if you so much as screw up even once, it all goes downhill. In cases like this, one negative easily outweighs the multitude of positives. I am not agreeing with the fact that Death Arms gave up, but I can see where he's coming from.

What Death Arms says here brings to mind everything Spider-Man ever went through with J. Jonah Jameson. Peter Parker had to endure constant insults from him and from his following in the public due to Jameson's influence in the media. Even he tried to throw in the towel because of it more than once. But Spidey's famous sense of responsibility always pulled through when people were in need of help. But for many in MHA being a hero is just a job. For Spider-Man it was always a responsibility.

Because Peter Parker is not a real person, a real person would never be able to endure what he did, that is the thing that many people in this comment section don't seem to be able to understand, that the "true heroes" they are talking about are not people, but ideals incarnated, "true heroes" only exist in comic books, batman, superman, spiderman, none of them are actually realistic, it's not bad that they aren't, but it's also not fair to expect realistic people to be like them, to meet these impossible fictional standards, it's impossible.

MHA is a story with beginning, middle and end; Spider-Man will never have a proper end while it remains popular and as such Peter can never give up even when he get all the reasons for doing so, MHA isn't just about treating heroism like a job, after the paranormal war all the surviving heroes suffered ptsd, survivel guilt and other forms of trauma while the public blamed them for everything without seeing them as people

Kinda wish for a one-shot fan comic where Death Arms, after his forced retirement, meets Spider-Man, and Death Arms learn a thing or two from the far-more experienced Peter Parker. @@zeokingsilver at some point that system had a starting point though, that the population had to agree with enough for it to become legislated/reality. In chaos, they chose to defer the risk and responsibility and make "heroes" a legitimate thing rather than protect themselves and their own families at the individual level as before, with police to enforce laws around that. The people made a choice to have that system become a thing. He's a pretty realistic guy. At the end of the day, he is still human and he acknowledged his own weakness. The war had reached a point where characters like him are no more than fodders. After all, Shigaraki and AFO are practically country level busters. Even Endeavor who is the number 1 Pro Hero can't do much and got crippled by AFO and nearly got killed by his own eldest son-Dabi. Star & Stripes who was arguably one of the most broken character in the series got killed by Shigaraki partly due to the latter identity crisis. We should acknowledge the fact that Death Arms stayed far longer than most other pro heroes who just quit when things went south very quickly.

Reminds me of the stories about U.S. soldiers coming back home after Vietnam, being spat on because they lost the war. I think if Kishimoto wanted to he could have leaned into that dirty aspect of society, how some people don't see a person but a job holder, somebody who is expected to do each job correctly and if they fail then it's their fault. What could these heroes do? They were fighting a guy who could destroy anything he touched, healed from any injury, and was acting faster than nearly all of them could process. All Might have it his all to protect everybody and when he couldn't do it anymore their response wasn't thankfulness, it was anger. The All Might statue they defaced because he wasn't there to help them. Society tends to try finding a scapegoat during times of crisis, heroes are simply the easy target. "This wouldn't have happened if they simply did their job." "What are we paying them for if they can't do this?" "Why do they deserve my respect?" Individual people can know not to blame you. In a society though it only takes one person. We even see that when Class 1-A brings back Midoriya, it took just one person to spark the hatred and it took so much to douse it. Are there things in life worth that level of anger? Yes but society tends to amplify it to extreme proportions. Society tends to not look at the actual problem because it only takes one person to show a scapegoat and suddenly we're all on board.

On one hand even though Death Arms has a Quirk he still a human that feels pain, suffering and receives resentment from normal citizens. But one has to courage, perseverance , determination and patience to overcome it because the message is that no matter what happens I will always be there for you and put my life on the line. One must also confront hatred, anger, and fear strive for happiness and peace. Those are the true essence of a hero. In the end Death Arms chose to quit because he didn’t possess most of these qualities.

By Daddy Death arms, you will be missed... Ok, that aside, this reaction is honestly respectable as is, not everyone can take this kind of stuff, and that's fine, not everyone can handle being constantly bombarded with what is essentially pure disdain for doing what they've originally been cosntantly glorified for. It isnt a matter of him not being ready, it's LITERALLY a matter of the world doing the worst possible switch up at the worst possible time for what is essentially the reaosn of "you failed once and you'll do it again." After years of not properly failing in public (because soemtimes villians get away, or win, or keep being evil.) It sucks, and i wish he could keep going and keep fighting. But take **5** seconds, to put yourself in his place and think, could you do this??? Could you 100% with everything that has lead him up to where he is now, given the mental fortitude it took already to risk your life essentially day in and out...could you have done this?

Times of conflict show hew you really are. If he quit after the final fight with all for one that would be understandable but this just proves he’s a coward. When you have civilians and literal criminals doing everything that they can to help and save others and you cant even stand by your friends to support them then you deserve to be called a failure. He didn’t even need to stay a hero just help out behind the scenes. Every one did there part and all he did was stop some debri he was close to

Like I said before Death-Arms wasn't a True Hero despite his super strength Quirk/Superpower, he was a hero for only money, fame and glory like the heroes from the Amazon series The Boys with the seven being celebrities with powers just like when things got very serious when the heroes lost against the league where most heroes sadly lost their lives and loved ones, some of them quit like cowards just like what he did giving up on their sidekicks, hero agencies and fans who looked up to them. It's a very good thing mt lady used to be like that in the beginning but throughout the series she became a true hero like when she was going against gigantomachia taking a serious beating including all the other beating she took. It's really sad how teenagers like Izuku can do a Wayy better job than the actual grown *Pro-heroes* adults with more hero experience than him sacrificing and risking their own lives for everybody's safety, it's no wonder why society turned it backs on the heroes just like how they treated Izuku before Ochako's speech. Overall I still love how MHA can still have realistic moments and elements to it throughout the series with people nowadays just like in real life

It's kinda odd that many western countries' citizens don't seem to recognize the parallels between themes like this in their media and real-life, Line-level public safety/govt/infrastructure/medical workers that get so much hate these days. Even as that public attitude exacerbates the very problems they complain about by making people quit and/or not want to enter those careers going forward, causing places to lower standards just to get warm bodies.

@@BowserGlazer Again, a real hero only exists in comic books, no one, seriously NO ONE in real life would be able to live the same life as Super Man, Batman or Spider Man and still stay by their morals, no one is incorruptive, no one. They are fictional characters for a reason. This scene of MHA is trying to portray a realistic super hero, which is why I think it's not fair for us to call him fake. The only way for someone like those heroes exist would be if they were indoctrinated to see themselfs as less than human.
